2XU compression socks: These really helped her a lot. I was not expecting them to help so much but they really helped. Make sure you put them on slowly and remove them slowly so you don't tear them. She reported an immediate difference in the pain relief from the added support.
Penetrex: Penetrex Pain Relief Medication [2 Oz] :: Patented Breakthrough for Arthritis, Back Pain, Tennis Elbow, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica, Plantar Fasciitis, Carpal Tunnel, Sore Muscles, Joints & Chronic Aches This stuff is amazing! But you have tow put it on more than twice daily. We put it on 4 times a day. it is expensive but it really helps
Biofreeze: Biofreeze Pain Relief Gel for Arthritis, 16 oz. Bottle with Pump, Back Pain, Cold Topical Analgesic with Original Green Formula We put this on her shins right before her races. It really helps mask any pain.
Superfeet: Superfeet Blue Premium Insoles,Blue,C: 6.5 - 8 US Womens/5.5 - 7 US Mens Wish I knew about these before the track season. We have a pair of "neutral" shoes to help stabilize the foot and ankle. Saucony Rides are good for this. However, this insert is as good as an orthotic insert you would get from a podiatrist. If you have high arches, then buy the green version. Mid to flat arches, then get the blue inserts. You can tell what kind of arches you have by getting your feet wet and stepping on a piece of cardboard or brown paper bag. Look at the outline your foot makes. If you have high arches, then your foot outline will look minimal. Flatter feet will make more of a while foot impression.
Tens treatment: FDA Cleared 16 Modes TENS unit Rechargeable Pain Relief Machine Electric Pulse Impulse Body Massager This thing is amazing to treat tight muscles or pain. It really works! I was skeptical since it is so cheap but my daughter's calves have really improved from using this thing. I wrote a review on it to detailing how to use it.
Anyways, I don't think my daughter's shin splints will be so bad next year now that we know about the inserts as her foot and ankle will get the support it needs. But we wills till use all of these treatments next year as they have saved our track season and allowed her to continue sprinting at practice and at track meets. I really hope that somebody benefits from my review as I know how frustrating shin splints can be once you develop them. They suck!

Replacement pair came in and won't be long until this pair does he same thing. If you do buy make sure you don't have on any rings or jingley bracelets that might catch in the fabric. I had a slight hangnail one day and thought I was going to get another snag. You do have to roll them like pantyhose in order to get them on.
Would not buy another pair. Can't justify the price for the durability.
