Product description

About the Author

Kenn Bivins isn't an African-American studies professor at a prestigious institution nor does he hold a Ph.D. in child psychology. But he is a dad, uncle and mentor who knows what it's like to grow up in Black skin. It is from those experiences that 39 Lessons for Black Boys & Girls was born. Kenn is an illustrator turned author who has an affinity toward telling both heart-warming and heart-wrenching tales of redemption. Through his novels and nonfiction, he aspires for his readers to identify with the characters and themes that he crafts through suspense, intrigue, action and the unexpected. His love of literature was born from reading comic books and honed by enjoying the literary works of Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison and John Steinbeck, among many. His novels, the Wedding & Disaster of Felona Mabel and Pious have received much critical acclaim from the literary world.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is TRULY AMAZING for ALL
Reviewed in the United States on 5 March 2020
So I woke this morning to read you book to my 4yr old son and 7yr old daughter, found myself on YouTube explaining and showing them what lynchings were and still are today. This book is amazing and have to order for Boys, Girls, and Teens editions. They will be gifts for many others. Ironically, one of the 1st things we see on our days beginning is a man with The Ankh on his hat. I say to my children, look on his hat. Strangely talking to this Black Man, he says he purchased the hat at a speaking engagement, he states that he wasn’t aware of its meaning or origin. How this turned into a learning lesson for 3 people in a moment’s time. Thank you so much again. I Love this Gem. As you see I’ve purchased the other editions. Now I have 156 affirmations to spread!
