I love cycling but it’s a horrifically expensive hobby and not all of us are rich haha. I have a pair of pearl izumi padded capris that I got on clearance but ready needed an extra pair. Unwilling to pay $80 plus for a new pair, I tried these. To be honest I didn’t bother looking at the measurements and just winged it. I am about 160 lbs and 5’6” with big hips and a very small waist so it’s relatively hard to find clothes that actually fit. I bought these in a large and they are definitely a tighter on my belly/hips but they are supposed to be pretty tight as you want them as a second skin. I could have sized up but because it’s bike season I know I always drop a bit of weight so I didn’t want them to be too loose by June. I’ve worn them on a few trips now and I actually prefer the padding on these to my pearl izumi ones surprisingly enough. The fabric is a decent quality although I wouldn’t say it’s the best. Nothing has unraveled or broken but the fabric just feels a bit cheaper. They look great on and I love the grips on the legs so they don’t move. Overall I would say I think they are a great deal for the price but don’t expect the same quality as a $80 plus pair. I would definitely buy again as a back up pair for when my bf and I go bikepacking.
These bike pants are great to wear as it's getting colder here in Upstate NY. The padding is great-I didn't find them to be too bulky, though I don't know if I'd want to wear them into a restaurant after a ride. The waist band sits high which I prefer; I don't like feeling like my pants are falling down while I'm riding, especially when it's cold outside! I've washed them about 6 times and I hang them to dry. They seem to be holding up well and have not lost their shape or resiliency. I'm going to buy another pair since it's too cold for cycling shorts these days. Good choice! FYI-I wear size 8 or medium. I ordered size large and they fit great. Watch the sizing with the cycling apparel; the garments tend to run very small.
Order your regular size. I went with recommendations to size up. That was a mistake. Too big and the padding is way too cumbersome for indoor spinning. I did return them, not because of the size, but they were delivered dirty. There were actual dirt marks on the leg. I believe someone wore and then returned these. The they were shipped to me. Otherwise I would have kept them even though they were a little big.
Update 6/7/21 - the size medium fits so much better! I never should have sized up. Thank you for the great pants!
Update: Received offer to have size medium shipped to me for free and to update review. Stay tuned for updated review ....
Initial review: I thought these were not comfortable at all. Maybe I got a size too large ( reviews recommended sizing up). The padding was uncomfortable when riding bike and I tried them 2 times with same outcome. Soreness where the padding stopped on the shorts.
Comfortable padding. I love the capri length. I have trouble with bad knee joints. Covering my knees with the capri length gives my knees a little added support and protection on breezy days. I need a size smaller, but that was my indecision problem , nothing to do with sizing chart.
The material is okay. The fit is okay. The padding felt like I was wearing a diaper. I can’t tell if that’s how all riding pants feel because this was my first pair, but I did feel that they had way too much coverage “further back” and not enough where I actually sit on the bike seat.
I ordered a large, could have gone with a medium. I am 5'3" with a short waist. The leggings were rather generous in the hip. They did not get tighter as the day went on, and that was a good thing. I didn't feel as sweaty as I was in the 95*+ heat and humidity either. Will puchase a medium.
