I can't stand underwire and dislike padding in bras, so I was very happy to find this Amoena bra a few years ago. The double layer of fabric in the cups is soft and smooth, and the band is secure and comfortable if you find the right size. Sizing requires trial and error; I went from my usual 34 to 36 for the band, and from my usual B cup to an A cup in the Amoena. The straps are so short that I had to take the bras to a tailor to add 3 inches of elastic to each strap! The price of the bra is modest on Amazon, so the tailoring was still worth it considering the comfort and good fit of the rest of the bra.
I have been wearing mastectomy bras for 14 years now. Always looking for that perfect fit. Finally I found it!! I had a lumpectomy in 2002 because of stage 3 cancer. So having 1 1/2 boobs you can imagine how difficult is is to find a somewhat decent bra. Yes I have a prosthesis but it is still difficult. This bra is perfect.
4 years and countless brands and models of mastectomy bras since my surgery. This one is PERFECT IN EVERY WAY! Low enough for neckline shirts. Forms stay in place without sliding under arms or up and curling the bra top. I ordered a 40c and my size 9 prosthetics fit great. A 10 also fits. Bought all colors.
This is a great bra with really comfortable straps. They are just slightly wider at the shoulders and padded which makes for a great fit and improves the comfort over many others. I already have this bra in purple and love that color as well. The only draw back, which I'm hoping was an aberration in the purple one, is that the material is starting to break down right next to the seamline in the front middle. Sorry I don't have a picture - it hasn't hurt the fit/comfort so far so I was happy to find another.
Was extremely disappointed when I found out Amoena no longer made this particular bra and was thrilled to find out that Amazon still carries them (in limited sizes and quantities). I had purchased numerous other mastectomy bras since I'd bought the Mona many years ago but have not been satisfied w/ the newer styles (very uncomfortable, doesn't fit properly, could wear them for just a few hrs., etc.). In fact, I have approximately 12 bras which have been worn only a few times and are practically brand new. Needless to say, I will treasure this bra for as long as they last. (I still have 5 of them which are worn out but nevertheless are still my favorite.) They're very comfortable and fit my body shape very well; they may not be the best looking bras but my goal is comfort and that's what they offer.
The quality of this bra seems to be very good. Have only washed a couple times but don't see anything that would concern me. I have purchased several since my mastectomy and some are really awful as to the comfort and fit. This is great.
What I like most about this bra is that it isn't over-constructed. If you want the cups "constructed", buy some inserts. It has great pockets for that - easy to take in, easy to take out. It is a very comfortable bra and stays in place. However, I was going to order one or two more, but just realized the price is $50+ dollars. A far cry the $12.99 I paid 2 days ago. No bra is worth $50.00!
