I ordered this paper to use on my front door sidelight. It was fairly easy to apply, although, it would have been much easier if there was a grid pattern on the paper that you could've used to make the cuts more precise. It looks really good on and affords privacy while letting lots of natural light through
This is sort of what I expected. The product was easy to install and sticks to the window with ease. Only problem was I made the wrong selection choosing the rice paper design. I didn't like it on my door side lights. I have now moved the film to the bathroom window behind soft sheer drapes. This works well and it was easy to take off and re-apply. I think the product is a little pricey for what it is.
I got this for two small windows in my bathroom. (about 11” x 25” each) I was happy to see that they provided a little squeegee to help clear the air bubbles during the application.
I followed the directions. Ensured the window was very clean. And used a little soapy water in a spray bottle to help in the mounting of it – also as directed. (Spray the window a little and spray the top of the film a little to help make it easier to squeegee out the bubbles.)
I noticed that it was stretching though in the longer dimension as I was pushing out the air bubbles. On the first window I kept having to remove it and trim a little more off. (I had already cut it slightly smaller to begin with as directed.) I was concerned about removing it and reapplying it, but I knew that the roll I bought would have enough to redo one of the windows if necessary. (They suggest cutting it about 1/16” smaller – In the end I had to cut over 1/4” smaller in the longer direction. Otherwise it would stretch past the edge of the window.)
So the other than the retrimming issue, the initial install went pretty easily. I was happy with it and how it looked. I have a sheer curtain in front of it so didn’t really pay much attention to it after that. Then after about 2 weeks I realized that it was completely falling off!
We had some extreme weather changes so I can only assume that was to blame. (VERY COLD nights –20ºC and then warm sunny days and the window would get a few hours of afternoon sun.) FYI. The windows are newer double paned, fairly decent quality windows – not single pane like in an older house.
I tried reapply the film probably 3 times over the next week but it wouldn’t stick. Kept falling off within hours. I’ve given up for now with the intention of trying again when the weather warms up. If it works then I’ll update this review.
Oct 2016 update - this product was a complete fail for me. I tried again later. No go. Ended up just pitching it.
