The AstroAI AM33D Multimeter is designed to safely and accurately troubleshoot a variety of automotive and household electrical problems. It's easy and safe to operate and features many different functions for measuring current, voltage, and resistance, as well as continuity, transistor, and diode testing, which is both for automotive and household uses. Use this multimeter for: household outlets, fuses, wiring, general-purpose batteries, vehicle battery and charging system, automotive circuits and more.

The grip of the multimeter is around the edge of the entire multimeter and a kickstand on the back so you don't have to be holding the entire time when you want to use it. It can also be used to diagnose, assemble, and repair circuitry and wiring. Other features include a low battery indicator, continuity buzzer, and overload protection.

The Hold Button can be useful when it's for more precise measurements. For example if measuring a sensor you might want to make a note that the meter reads 2.984 V and it's more convenient than trying to remember the value while you write it down on a piece of paper or enter the value into a spreadsheet etc.

Yes my name’s Al I live in Sydney AU but I have no financial support or interest from AstroAl whatsoever. I, like other people had issues with the multimeter not once but twice so my review wasn’t about rubbishing the product it was showing the problem for all to see, then I reached out to them and I’m glad I did, so if you know how these multimeters work which I’m sure you do otherwise you wouldn’t be carrying out different tasks using the product you should be able to reach out to AstroAl explaining or showing the problem with your purchase instead of straight off the bat bagging the product and giving a negative review after all they don’t know what the problem is unless the problem is explained to them so they can look into the manufacturing, parts supplier and or the quality control of their products and have it rectified asap for I don’t know of anyone that likes to lose their money that’s hard to come by these days. I give AstroAl 100% for the time they took to see and hear my issues plus 100% for customer satisfaction in sorting it out for me and not turning their back on my concerns. Many thanks to AstroAl for all that you have done and there should be more people in this world like you that give and not take.

This is a great starter multimeter for the DIY electrical and electronic hobbyist. It is very easy to use - just connect the leads, turn the knob to the appropriate measurement, and measure away. The external shell of the multimeter is plastic, but I think the construction is still relatively solid considering how inexpensive this multimeter is.

I bought this multimeter for some DIY work on my car's external dashcam battery circuit. The multimeter worked great in checking the diode direction, DC voltage/current, and circuit continuity to ensure my DIY modification work as intended.

The purchased of this DMM was mainly influenced by the purchase of another AstroAI product reviewed elsewhere. I was so impressed by their 'unique' tyre air compressor that I wondered if AstroAI also marketed a basic DMM that I could also carry in my car. They do, this is it.

The AstroAI DMM lacks the uniqueness of its tyre inflator and is reminiscent of older multi-meter (DMM) designs that are based upon a simple, single-dial design plus a button, or two. This is not a criticism but rather an endorsement that simplicity often results in fault-free operation and zero learning time. The AstroAI DMM is typical of this basic design of which there are a great many available. I am pleased to see the lack of dedicated sockets for testing transistors which hark back to multi-meter designs (analogue MMs) decades old.

Selection of a suitable DMM was made difficult by the number of choices available and I was guided by the range of measurement options, simplicity of operation and above all cost. The Amazon illustrations fail to give an impression of the look-and-feel, weight and size of the DMM and I gambled upon the AstroAI DMM being small, pocketable and lightweight. I was not disappointed. The DMM is fairly thick but once again this is not a criticism. It's bulk makes it easy to handle/grip and to accommodate the large Lithium PP9-sized 9V battery. Many of the newer, slimmer DMMs use button cells. The DMM case is robust and designed to take knocks and drops.

The range of measurements possible with the AstroAI are fairly typical and a good selection to suit most needs. The LCD can be backlit and readings 'held', if required. A pair of probe leads are included. The only thing missing, in my opinion, is a case to hold the DMM and its probe leads. However, this omission is very common and I usually resort to purchasing a strong domestic container of the type usually used to seal and store food.

The price of the AstroAI DMM is another factor but there are many in the same price bracket. Being 'low cost' does not necessarily equate to cheapness (e.g. poor build quality) and the AstroAI is definitely not cheap. I eventually made my decision to buy the AstroAI DMM based upon my previous experience of the their air compressor, being low cost and a superb performer. Recommended.

It is a realy accurate product and worth every penny. I have measured a few things just to test it. I borrowed a fluke multi meter and comaperd the two. And it showed the exact same voltages in AC and DC as well. Obviously the fluke one has more settings and a bit wider range for the measurements, and it wasnt just 10 pond. But measureing the load and the resistance it is great. worth for the money and easy to use. Great little tool for DIY arround the house. If any question i will answer :)

Which I could not find...but it was inside and already connected with a plastic cover in case of leakage,,,I assume...Did the job I bought it for....But..But there was a nasty stiffness on the Control knob and when turned after three or four operations the Control knob made a crunching noise and Now it turns to freely.....I presume that there must be a spring ratchet internally which is faulty.....Do I return it? It is a shame really...because other than that I feel it was just a production one off flaw and not endemic to the overall supply chain.....Otherwise five stars would have been given RDR
