Love this bra! Bali bras have been consistently the most comfortable bras I've purchased over the past 5 years, and now I can purchase them through amazon at a much lower price! Not the support of an underwire but so comfy!
Pros: -Very comfortable Wirefree Lightly Padded Bra - did not change my size significantly -Stay comfortable all day, compared to the Pull on type for a Full Chested person. Even more comfortable than the non padded version #3484 -Good Support for a comfortable Bra style -Excellent coverage with a smooth appearance and improves shape
Cons: - Varies somewhat in size mainly in the width ordering the same size/color but not as much as the non padded version - Material is not the best and may Pill, Keep away from velcro etc. or the material may pull. I found the same for online & in store purchases -Best to check both store bought & ordered ones carefully to make sure the material is in tact Still a good buy for a comfortable item in this style #3488. Amazon offers free returns so not as risky as buying online elsewhere. Have been stuck with Bras from other online sources as not worth returning. On the positive side maybe it will inspire me to lose more weight to fit into them LOL.
NOTE: I ordered 1 size up from the recommended size per the Hanes chart. According to the chart I should only take a Medium. I always take a large as I find the cup size too small and the width too tight on the recommend size. Would recommend 1 size up for comfort if you are a C Cup or larger. I measure about 36" but am full. Large is perfect
As a woman who wore underwire bras exclusively it takes a lot for one without an underwire to impress me.
The first one I purchased was directly from Shapermint and did not have the dots. The material was nice, stretched well and for a while I saw no real issues. Even though I am very careful with washing bras, it did not take long for "pills" to appear. Because of the stretchy materials the "pills" are so stuck that it doesn't come out with a lint roller and picking them off pulls the fabric.
So I purchased the Bali with dots. I mistakenly got the Medium which fits very tightly. A bit too snugly but the straps fit well. I purchased the Large which is the size of the original that I had for over a year. The Large fits quite snug on the furthest eyelets. The cup size is perfect but the straps sag. Why, O Why, could they not put an adjuster on the strap? So I have one that's so furry it looks like a 10 year old knit fisherman's sweater, one that's the size I wish I were and the other makes me look like I'm in a Maxine comic with my saggy bitties.
There's got to be a bra that's in-between that won't irritate swollen lymph nodes or sag to your belly button...I just don't know where to find it, but this isn't it.
They get a 4 because they hold their elastic. The under chest-icle area materials do not roll up, pinch or let anything out. (After a year they do discolor slightly.) They have a decent form and fit when the straps are correct. I'm going to attempt cutting and re-stitching them to see if it helps. Just some words from the wiser when making the decision on these.
***UPDATE*** Okay, let's face it. This bra is super comfortable so I decided to buy more just to see if I could get lucky and receive consistently sized bras. I did!!! I bought 5 more and each bra is exactly how it should be... As for the pilling I will opt to use a fabric shaver because the comfort is worth the effort. Very comfy IF you are lucky to get one sized correctly. I have purchased 4 and every single bra is sized differently. It is very strange. I am rather upset since I did fall in love with the first one I purchased. I agree with the others about the bad fabric choice for a bra. It definitely pills and looks rough after wearing a few times. Of course I didn't try them on before I removed and trashed the tags. I wish I could get more of this bra even with the pilling.... it is that comfortable, but I seriously doubt I will ever receive another one with the proper fit. If I had only worn the first bra I received, I would give this item 5 stars. I decided to go down a size with the second bra. It was tight. I then decided to go back up to the first size and bought two. They are much smaller than the smaller size. I couldn't breathe. It was like I bought something several sizes smaller. Makes no sense! I think 2 stars is generous at this point.
According to standard measuring for bras I would be a 34A, which I have not actually worn for 20 years. My Maidenform bras are 36B and that would make me a small in this bra but I didn't trust that so I bought the medium. I am 5'4 130 pounds and I still have to wear the medium on the last hook. Any tighter around the back and I would need a large. I downgraded a star because it nice for everyday but not flattering under work clothes--a little flattening like a sport bra. I had a lumpectomy and radiation so I needed something more comfortable for everyday.
I wanted to like this badly because the material was soft and stretchy but unfortunately it may not be for big girls. For reference I am a 5'9" size 16 38D to DD - so definitely on the cusp of XL but ordered L based on reviews.
Although it looked small in the pkg, the band did stretch and was comfortable around my ribcage, 3 hooks which is nicer on a wide band. The band underneath just promptly rolled up in a roll underneath the boobs and would just be annoying. Didn't offer any side or underarm support (I know, I know...no underwire, what did I expect) but I was sucked in by the picture that this might be a comfy sport-bra style with a nicer look.
Going back and no reason to order a different size in my case. I could see A&B ladies enjoying this..as well as slimmer folks whose tummies don't push the band up
For some reason even though I measure in at a 36" band size, I have to buy larger band sizes. Most bras are made to fit very snug; even somewhat tight around the band. I sized up at first from M to L. The cups were a little big and ironically the band, even though sized larger than my actual size, fit too tight. I use extenders. All in all with extender, it is the most comfortable bra I've had. If the band is tight, it is not good for lymph glands under armpits. Manufacturers make them to fit tight because it is supportive to bust line. Enough said.
