This works great for ironing but wish it had elastic to be put on board. It has a weird system of strings and plastic discs. Since our cleaner originally put it on the board, I'm not sure now how to get it to stay put, there seem to constantly be loose strings hanging from the front and sides.
The original foam on our ironing board had started to deteriorate and we needed to replace it. This was a great solution - allowing us to cut it to the right size so it fits perfectly. It sits under our Irving board cover - providing more padding and residual heat from the iron.

What you see is what you get and this is a plain, good quality, well fitting cover. Just laying it on the ironing board, it seemed like the string system would not be good enough to hold it neatly and firmly but it was. In case it helps regarding sizing - we don't have a Brabantia ironing board and so I was uncertain which size to get - our board top measured exactly 124 x 38 but I didn't know if their size B (which was the exact same dimensions) would simply cover the top of the board and not have enough spare to attach it comfortably or if it included the required additional material. Suffice to say, when I contacted Brabantia before buying, I had a prompt and helpful response to say that it was the latter and this turned out to be accurate - the 124 x 38 cover fitted round my 124 x 38 board perfectly.
It's not till you take you compare this with what's left under your existing ironing board cover that you realise just how bad it's become! My old one was incredibly thin and this one seemed like a luxury deep pile in comparison. Actually quite dense to so you'll need a stronger pair of scissors than the hairdressing ones I first tried! My kitchen scissors did the trick instead. The instructions tell you to lie it down on the floor and turn your ironing board upside down and lay it on the felt. Then draw a line the outside with a few inches to spare/turn under. I didn't bother with the palava of any of that! I simply put my ironing board up, placed the felt on top, flattened it out and went around it with my scissors leaving the appropriate excess to turn under. Then I placed the new cover I'd treated myself to (whoopee!) over it, ironed it out and tightened it all up.
I have one of those silver metallic covers which is supposed to hold heat better therefore reduce ironing time. I had noticed ages ago, that I was getting large drips of water through the bottom of the board (underneath it's just like a metal cage with the felt and cover on top). Since I changed the felt and put a new cover on (the same type though) I've used the same iron over 3 weeks and not noticed one single drip so I think the felt is definitely doing a good absorption job too. I'm certainly not missing the wet feet and carpet and yes, the ironing takes less time too.
Good quality felt but why is a reputable company like Brabantia not supplying felts ready cut to fit their own ironing boards when there seems to be a max of 3 standard sizes? It is NOT easy to adjust and cut - the average 75 yr old who invested some years ago in a quality ironing board does not expect to be required to replace the original underlay with a Unifit felt by laying the board flat on the floor, crawling round it with a felt-tip to mark a template and struggling to cut the thick felt to size with domestic-issue scissors. For heavens sake!!

I used to be a big fan of Brabantia products because of their quality. However, this ironing board cover doesn't really cut it anymore. It is thin and has only one strap to fasten it which is not enough for an XL cover. Luckily, I had kept the straps of the old cover (which still had two) and used them to stabilise it.
I bought a replacement Brabantia cover a couple of months ago but the mesh on the board was starting to imprint on the clothes. After reading the reviews I decided to buy this product. You've got to lay the board onto the felt and draw around it for size, so I cut it slightly larger for a bit of an overlap and the cover keeps it in place. Excellent product and I'd recommend the seller as it arrived a bit later than expected and they replied immediately to confirm it had been sent.
All told an essential piece of kit which will last for years and I'd highly recommend it.
