5.0 out of 5 starsThe single most useful book I've ever read.
Reviewed in Australia on 17 December 2018
That's a big statement, I know, but David Goggins has such a unique, refreshing, and honest way of looking at things that unless you're intellectually and emotionally comatose (or would like to be), you can't help but grow as you read. After decades of conscious self-discovery I thought I knew myself well. Goggins showed me how I only knew the areas I wanted to know, and how the unexamined areas had been mud wrestling me behind the scenes for years. I'm going to come right out and say the one thing I never expected to say in a review: If in your life you're only going to read one book that will mess you up and set you right, you can't get better than this one.

1.0 out of 5 starsLooks like a fake copy
Reviewed in Australia on 14 April 2021
The quality of the print is terrible. It looks like a fake copy. I have compared my copy to the ones at the stores and its different. The ones at the store have much better printing and better quality paper. Avoid this version as it ruins the experience of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most important individuals of our generation

A year ago, I survived a heart attack, age 30 - doctors told me I couldn't be able to do anything too physical in the future, and that I need to take it easy for the rest of my life. I couldn't handle this, as I refused to accept the advice of clinicians locally here, who relied heavily on out-dated research and mostly knew how to help a much older group of people. Feeling very alone, I started researching cardiologists and athletes with a heart condition, and this guy David Goggins shows up.

Ever since then I've been following and consuming every piece of material and interview he has made - his advice and his philosophies to life was instrumental in helping me complete the very challenging Kokoda track in Papua New guinea a year after my heart attack - I climbed 6 mountains in 7 days in extreme tropical mud and heart, listening to David's voice in the back of my head.

The important thing about Goggins is he's a normal guy who's been through some tough challenges in life, and has come out on top. There is no end to the challenges though, and he's pretty much going to tell you what you already know - this is all hard work. This book teaches you, through his experiences, how to embrace the intensity, how to face your demons, and how to commit to your goals, and the dangers of "living happily ever after"

Get on to it. Oh and if you're someone who complains about profanity and bad language, then don't f***ing read this book. Stay hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Powerful Book I've Read.

This is without a doubt the most powerful, moving and inspiring book I've ever read, and I do read a lot. Reading Can't Hurt Me makes you take inventory of your life and gives you the spark to seek out challenges and be more than you thought you ever could be. To say the story of David Googins is remarkable is the understatement of a lifetime. This man has achieved so much and pushed his body and mind far beyond what most would believe to be humanly possible. But he wasn't always like this. He grew up poor, abused physically and mentally, suffered a learning disability, became obese. And then he saw a documentary on the Navy Seals, which changed everything for him. Through a combination of self-doubt, dissatisfaction, and a burning desire to see who he could be and what he could amount to, so Goggins began possibly the most remarkable human transformation ever documented. By developing a hardcore work ethic, and redirecting my internal dialogue, I now feel like anything is possible if I get after it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most inspiring and powerful book I ever read

...The author grew up in hell and went through hell to become one of the toughest men in the world, if not the toughest one. To remember just one fact that only he (in US history!) completed SEAL training (including two Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Enlisted Honor Man) and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training... having a hole in his heart and not fully functioning lungs! And it is not about what he achieve but what he overcome to achieve it. AND during his journey, he found wisdom and peace in his mind. Most of us have a lot to learn from his book. As author says, most of people realise only 40% of their potential; he inspire us to get more out of our lives. David Goggins, I salute you! Thank you so much for your book! All the best in your life and new conquered heights. With great respect, Alex.

I’m genuinely speechless, what an inspiring out of this world account of someone who puts everything into perspective. If I could give it 6 or 7 stars I would, and I will say this, it’s the best book I have ever read

I've loved reading since I was a kid. I've read thousands of books - many really good books. This is one of THE best books I've ever read. I'm rereading it, I'm studying it, and I'm determined to put everything I'm learning from David into practice in my life. I would recommend this book 100% to anyone who really wants to change their life. When you think about what you truly want to accomplish, ask yourself, like David...'What if?' Embrace the pain, and get to work - you won't regret it.

Having listened to David Goggins on podcasts and interviews for the past couple of years, I thought I'd heard everything he's had to say. Not true..

This book takes it up a level and is one of the most motivational pieces of writing I've ever read.
