5.0 out of 5 starsThe single most useful book I've ever read.
Reviewed in Australia on 17 December 2018
That's a big statement, I know, but David Goggins has such a unique, refreshing, and honest way of looking at things that unless you're intellectually and emotionally comatose (or would like to be), you can't help but grow as you read. After decades of conscious self-discovery I thought I knew myself well. Goggins showed me how I only knew the areas I wanted to know, and how the unexamined areas had been mud wrestling me behind the scenes for years. I'm going to come right out and say the one thing I never expected to say in a review: If in your life you're only going to read one book that will mess you up and set you right, you can't get better than this one.

1.0 out of 5 starsLooks like a fake copy
Reviewed in Australia on 14 April 2021
The quality of the print is terrible. It looks like a fake copy. I have compared my copy to the ones at the stores and its different. The ones at the store have much better printing and better quality paper. Avoid this version as it ruins the experience of this book.

My goodness, why do people criticize the swear words!? I started reading expecting to be inundated with swearing and honestly, it's very mild and completely appropriate...If I had gone through all he had I also should be given free rein on the swearing.
What a great book...I can't recommend it enough. I am so happy I bought it. I struggle with chronic PTSD ...meaning I have to endure similar events on a regular basis as well as regular triggers...this is the first anything to give me some hope to facing it all and developing resilience to it. I may actually have a great life after all...I may even become a valuable and inspiring member of society... How wonderful. Thankyou David...Go Goggins!
FYI - I'm a female in her late 40's... if this gives more context.

Thank you for this lesson you are a bad MF! I have taken away many lessons that I'm sure will help me in my own way! Audio book has great mini lessons throughout the book, Listen/Read it! Also great narrator!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most inspiring and powerful book I ever read

...The author grew up in hell and went through hell to become one of the toughest men in the world, if not the toughest one. To remember just one fact that only he (in US history!) completed SEAL training (including two Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Enlisted Honor Man) and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training... having a hole in his heart and not fully functioning lungs! And it is not about what he achieve but what he overcome to achieve it. AND during his journey, he found wisdom and peace in his mind. Most of us have a lot to learn from his book. As author says, most of people realise only 40% of their potential; he inspire us to get more out of our lives. David Goggins, I salute you! Thank you so much for your book! All the best in your life and new conquered heights. With great respect, Alex.

It took four chapters to realize that this book was about to change my life. The principles of life are clear, the power of the mind is explained and my 40% has started to increase. There is not jumping around and high fives. It is a down to earth in your face wake up call. The one I needed to have. Great work David Goggins.

Fantastic book. David Goggins is a very inspiring person. Reading this book makes me want to run until my feet fall apart and I collapse in a seat in my own bodily fluids. Great advertisement for Ritz crackers. Highly recommended.

Great book yet difficult to grasp as you have to live through your own pain and suffering to understand his mentality. Despite that, it can be served as a rough guidance.

This was a great read. Goggins pulls no punches in telling his life story & in explaining the truths about why people fail or succeed in life.

It’s not a self help book more a confronting dose of realty that many people would benefit from.

Inspiring, confronting & amazing!

I’ve been a fan of David Goggins and heard many of his podcasts, it was news to my ears when I heard he had written a book. This book goes into detail about David’s past and how it shaped him into the person he is today. Very motivating and the book has HD a big impact on me. Definitely a recommended read.
