First a note about fit; I debated for a long time between the S and the M. I read all the reviews, and it seemed a mixed bag with what people were saying as sizing goes. I am 5'4", 120lbs with a small upper body. I went with the S and I am glad I did. It fits perfectly. Not too big, not too small. I will say tho - I am petite especially in my upper body, so if you have especially broad shoulders, a large chest, or more muscular arms, you would want a M. The length is great for me; lands just below my hips. I believe there's a longer length version if you want one that covers the entire backside. Sleeve length is OK, I have long arms and the sleeves don't cover my hands (which I prefer) but they probably would on a normal arm person.
It's pouring rain here so I got to test the jacket out immediately. It kept me very dry, the hood is fantastic and you can cinch it up to where only your nose and eyes are showing and it forms a little cap over your forehead so it's very well-constructed. This is a lightweight jacket which is fine for me in Texas, but if I was in cooler temps I would definitely need it to be a shell with warmer layers underneath.
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase! If anything needs to be added I'll update this review as I'm about to take this jacket on a camping trip and really test it out.
I would usually order a small in jackets - I ordered a small and it fit perfectly. The fit was loose, but that's what you want with a jacket like this. I live in AZ, so I didn't need a waterproof rain jacket, per se, I just needed a light windbreaker. This would have worked well for that purpose, but I could *not* get over how loud the crinkliness of this jacket was! It was like crumpling up wax paper any time I moved. I sent it back for that reason. However, if that doesn't bother you, then I'd HIGHLY recommend this jacket!
This jacket is actually pretty nice, but it's not perfect. This jacket mostly looks good closed due to the velcro lining the zippers. In addition, if you're not using to wearing nyon material, it may be a tad bit noisy for you. However, this jacket does has its good points! There's mesh lining on the inside of the jacket, and that includes its pockets. The pockets have zippers, adding security and they're really big! You can also make the parts around the arms, neck and hips tighter if you prefer to do so. Will write on update review once tested in SoCal rain :)
I'm 5'2", 115 pounds and ordered a small. I'm using this on a trip where I will be layering for warmth as well as rain. I was very impressed with the quality for the discounted price. It is a more baggy fit, but with layering that will work perfectly. If you want something more fitted, this may not be the right choice for you. Also, this jacket is not made for warmth on its own. It is very thin, but seems like it will work wonders when it comes to keeping you dry.
Unfortunately I purchased this coat under the impression that sizing up would leave me with much room to layer. Not the case at all and I'm not sure if I can exchange or received another coat instead. Knowing how reputable a company as Columbia is, I assumed their raincoat would also live up to the high standard. This is not the case and I dont see myself buying from them again.
Runs big. I normally wear a medium I ordered a small. Fits perfect. Water proof lightweight. Only issue is it’s very loud the material makes a lot of noise when you move or walk. I wanted this for work around my horses. It’s very loud for them.
I’m 36 D chest ( small size worked ) Measurements 36-26-34. In ordered a small fits perfect
Totally love it! I am 5'3 and 120 lbs, and I fall between a size XS and S for Columbia clothing but I chose S for more room. The sleeves are long but the velcro straps at the cuffs allow me to adjust if I want to keep the sleeves at wrist level. The jacket falls slightly below my waist, looks flattering, keeps me warm and has huge pockets for stuff.
This jacket looked okay, but it was a slightly large on me. (I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs and I ordered a small). The only real issue I had with it was that the hood was kind of an odd shape and wouldn't stay on my head. It wasn't adjustable with drawstrings to make it tighter, either. I ultimately returned it because of this- otherwise, I'd be walking around in the rain holding the hood over my head.
