I used this pants for a hiking trip in Spain. I wish I had bought two pair. They were light, airy, comfortable and warm.

100% POLYESTER LINING
Reviewed in Canada on 10 August 2020Size: 1XColour: BlackVerified Purchase
I only bought these because they said that they were NOT polyester as I am allergic. Turns out there is a hidden lining inside which is 100% polyester! This of course being inside the pant legs will make them impossible to wear! If you are looking to avoid scratchy polyester or if you are allergic I cannot recommend.

Excellent travel pants! Long length, needed hem, water resistant, stylish, comfortable and verrrry flexible. Love.
Reviewed in the United States on 16 August 2015Size: 18WxRColour: BlackVerified Purchase
I've been calling these my airplane pants.
We just recently took a lovely trip back home to Nova Scotia. It's summer, I don't really need the heavy warmth of regular jeans but I thought that something thin and flexible for wearing on the lonnng plane flight would be good. I wanted something lightweight, dark to hide spills, flexible and something that could withstand hiking about the woods in rural Canada.
These were perfect! Mind you that was after I hemmed them.
I am not sure who these pants were made for length wise, lady giants? I had to cut off a good 4 inches of length and re-hem them before they were the perfect length for my leg.
Not a big deal but if you are short on time, want pants like these for a specific travel purchase as I did, keep the long length in mind. I am 5'6", so what I consider average height and found these reallllly long. I'l post pics of what I cut off and what the final length was.
The material is indeed lightweight and has a beautiful stretch to it. That stretch means when you hem you'll need an appropriate stretch stitch so your stitches don't bust. I spent some quality time googling my hem options and familiarizing myself with my sewing machine's stretch stitch option before beginning. I was a bit nervous cutting my new pants but I went slow and ironed them, pinned them, took lots of precautions and they turned out perfect. Can't even tell they are not the factory hem unless you get down at ankle level and stare hard at the stitches...
The pants are so lightweight and rolled into such a tiny little ball of fabric that I, quite geekily, weighed them! They weigh the same amount as a single pair of my most worn/favorite cotton cargo shorts. Suuuhhhweet. As for space in my luggage they hardly took up any.
As I mentioned though I wanted these first for wearing on the air plane, it was an overnight flight and wanted maximum comfort.
I was indeed verrrrry comfortable.
My one complaint...WHY DO MANUFACTURERS NOT GIVE WOMEN DECENT POCKETS?????
Seriously. It's stupid. Put the deep pockets in and let us decide if we want to stuff them and add pack mule like bulges to our thighs. If I am traveling I don't care if my cell phone bulges my front pockets or a wad of tissue or cough drops...I'd just like the option of carrying those things.
Women's pant's pockets are notoriously short and I find it insulting. I purchased a pair of Columbia brand hiking pants for my husband at the same time as mine and they of course had wonderful, usable pockets.
I won't ding them a star because it didn't affect my opinion of the over all feel, use and comfort and also it seems to just be an overall annoying clothing trend. But Columbia.....you'd impress me if you changed this antiquated habit of short, unusable pockets for future pants.
I read up on these pants before committing to the purchase so I knew they were water resistant but WOW. They are VERY water resistant. Like if you take a handful of water and toss on your leg (there's that geek testing again) the water just rolls off. Of course if you submerge the material they will get wet but for spills, splashes, light rain the water literally rolls off. When we were outside in some light showers I just gave them a flick on the way inside and knocked the water beads off.
They dry pretty quickly as well. We had access to a washer and dryer on our trip but I suspect these would be the sort of clothing you could hand wash in a sink and wring and dry in the air. I will try that out some time.
I was careful the first time I dried them, keeping my eye on them and checking every few minutes. I find with these modern fabrics they either go nutso and shrink or do something weird or they are super star space age modern marvels, these are modern marvels. I followed the instructions, cool water, gentle cycle for drying (no high heat). They washed well. They can wrinkle a little, so if you fold or hang them right out of the dryer they look best. However I do find the wrinkles relax away after wearing or hanging so again, no big deal.
We were in a humid environment, East Coast summer so quite moist, we didn't need long pants like these the whole time and I did find they got a bit stuffy after the sun was up. Not a biggy, just letting you know they're not as cool as shorts, despite their light weight etc.
They look like dress pants. This is actually really awesome. They look like I'm "dressing up" instead of heading out to hike a trail or wander around the woods. I received many compliments on them when I was wearing a nice white t-shirt with them and kept having an internal mental giggle because I was wearing hiking clothes...nothing "fancy".
I am a size 18 usually for most average department store pants. Considered "plus size" These pants fit my hips and legs etc really great. In fact for the first time in a while I wondered if I should have went a size smaller... These were actually a little loose on me but again I wanted maximum comfort not maximum style so loose sounded good for long airplane travel.
I may try the size 16 in the future because for one, you save moolah in the smaller sizes and also it might be nice to have that slimmer option..
I did find after an all day wear the pants got even looser, stretched a bit...but they tighten back up after a wash. They have a VERY HANDY draw string cord as well as the snap and zip.
I saw some one else mention the zipper falling down. THANK-YOU to who ever commented on that. I took the precaution of black undies for travel and halfway through the airport I realized things were feeling a bit breezy and lo and behold my zip was down..er....not cool...well it was cooling but not "cool".
Anyways, be aware of that as well. It only happened once but once was enough for me to check every once in a while ;)
I did find cat hair really clung to these, just remembered that...but I didn't have any dryer sheets at the place we were staying so maybe that's not an issue if they've been dryed with those..hmm, I'll look in to that further. I was visiting my Mom who had a verrrrry cat-hairy spot to sit and after I stood up I realized I'd taken half the cat hair with me haahaha.
Let's see...That's all I can think of for now. These are really awesome pants and my minor complaints are just that, minor and don't feel they warrant dinging a star.
Their supreme comfort and stretch that let me do anything from deep squats, hiking up a hill, sit for long periods in a plane seat are what I wanted and these excelled there.
They satisfied all my needs and I hope they are long lasting in their wear. I'll do a longer term update in 6 months or a year or something.

Nice pants AFTER I'd tailored them to fit
Reviewed in the United States on 11 May 2016Size: 20WxRColour: nocturnalVerified Purchase
Bought size 20 in the blue.
COLOR: a somewhat odd blue, definitely has a gray undertone - still works as a neutral color for pants. It's a chameleon - if you wear a navy blue top the pants will appear to be gray; wear a gray top and the pants will appear to be blue-ish.
MATERIAL: nice and stretchy in ALL directions! Extremely comfortable to wear due to all the stretch. Appearance is a tight 'woven' fabric, silky-feeling but has a matte finish (not shiny). All pockets are mesh, so not bulky under the outer material, and are fairly deep. Though the material wrinkles after sitting a while, they gradually disappear after standing or hanging.
HARDWARE: Snap is metal and heavy-duty (won't easily pop open like some plastic snaps do when I bend over). Zipper is nylon.
SIZING:
LENGTH measured 31.5 inches after washing and drying once (no shrinkage in length or width). I have a 27.5" inseam so needed to hem them - I have a sewing machine and am used to doing this unless I can buy pants with a 'short' inseam.
PANT LEG WIDTH was perfect for me (thigh 29", calf 16"). I think the size 18 legs would fit also, but would be tighter than I want (more like a 'skinny-leg' pant). I wanted a looser-fitting leg.
WAIST was too large for me (my waist=41") The drawstring was the width of a shoestring (!) inside the 1.5" wide waistband, which made it difficult to spread the gathers out evenly when I pulled it tight enough to keep the pants from slipping down. Instead, I removed the drawstring and inserted "waistband elastic" through 2 slits I cut in the inside material of the waistband at the back near the left and right hip seams, zigzag stitching closed the slit I cut to insert the elastic (elastic measured 1.25" wide x 3" shorter than the hip-to-hip seams). This nicely shrank the waistband so it fits me comfortably; I can pull the pants on, zip-and-snap and I'm ready to go! See attached photos.
I plan on wearing these pants for hiking here in Colorado, & will be taking them while touring Java & Bali for 3 weeks this fall, and on a tour to Chile & Argentina (including Patagonia) next fall. They should be very comfortable to wear on these long flights thanks to the stretch & fluid-resistance of the fabric.

Curvy active women rejoice, they made pants for us!
Reviewed in the United States on 1 August 2019Size: 18WxRColour: BlackVerified Purchase
Are you an active plus sized curvy woman, constantly pissed off that there’s never any comfortable pants that fit your hips and thighs, without being way to big at the waist? Constantly irritated that everything in Columbia’s line is cut for “apple” shaped women, and not “pear”? Get these pants. I was stunned that Columbia realized us Lear’s existed, even if just for one piece out of their whole line. I buy a pair anytime I see them around or under $30. I hike, camp, kayak, travel, and ride my horse in them. Light, cool, quick to dry. One of my most worn pairs still resists water. They wash up nicely on the delicate cycle and a low dry. Length is good for me at 5’4” (maybe a hair long but not scraping the ground unless I’m barefoot). Stretch makes moving easy, can roll up legs above knees and they stay put for a bit. New pairs pass easily as normal casual pants. Haven’t worn through the thighs yet, just some polling that you’d have to be an exhibitionist to show.
Minor cons: the Velcro bit on the back pocket will constantly come undone when you bend over. They can be a snaggy around briars or thorns. Light colors will show your sweat. Get very wrinkled if folded, but recover better than anything with cotton in them.
