For anybody above say 60 years of age or anybody with lower back issues this product is an absolute must. It does everything the manufacturers tell you and more...! I suffer from chronic back pain and since I put it on my car seat the results have been wonderful. I would not remove it for the world! I suggest that this cushion could (and probably should) be used by anybody as a preventive measure especially if you do a lot of driving. It is also very comfortable.

I ordered this for my brother, who is dealing with cancer that has spread to the bone. It hurts for him to sit for more than 15-20 minutes. He said it felt a little firm at first, but began to soften a bit. Body heat does that to memory foam, so I asked him to give it some time. He's used it now for two days and said it has helped tremendously. He used it in the car today to travel an hour each way to the doctor, and he was fairly comfortable for that time. So yes, this is a good cushion that has provided him some relief from the pain of sitting.

Update: Sadly, my brother passed away. But in his final four months of life he used this cushion. He took it everywhere with him. It did the job it was designed to do and it helped him more than any other product we could find. It never flattened out, and I ended up donating it so that someone else could reap the benefit of its design.

The top layer feels smooth to the touch and the bottom has bumps to keep it from sliding around too much. It compresses when sat on and is quite thick so it is comfortable for my back. It also has a handle for easy carrying with one hand. It is also not very heavy so I can see this being brought on travels if need be. Comfortable cushion so far for the past week I've been using it.
