This guide has 264 pages plus a foldout map of the regions on the front cover (see photo) and a foldout road map on the back cover.
The book is divided into three main sections: Discover, Experience and Need to Know.
Discover has 46 pages on getting to know Vietnam. For example, there is a brief history of Vietnam’s turbulent history.
Experience is the largest section at 186 pages covering: Southern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, South Central Vietnam, Central Vietnam, Northern Vietnam and Hanoi. Each section has places to visit, stay and eat. Itineraries focused on: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Southern Vietnam and Northern Vietnam are also included.
The final section Need to Know has 14 pages on getting around and practical information. There is also a very short phrase book. It is always nice to know how to say hello and thank you in the local language.
There are numerous photographs but the paper quality means the photos are not the highest quality. However, if a heavier quality paper was used it would be too heavy to pack on your travels.
How does DK Eyewitness compare to other tour guides such as Lonely Plant and Rough Guides? First thing of note is that the DK Eyewitness guide has fewer pages, but the book is slightly taller. Over all there is less information e.g. the lists of hotels is limited, but the DK Eyewitness guides have a lot more photographs to inspire you and, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
To answer my opening question yes this DK Eyewitness guide has inspired me to want to visit Vietnam for its natural wonders, architecture, beautiful beaches and fabulous sounding cuisine.
In terms of openness, I was sent this item to review. I hope you found the review useful

Pros:
-clear, concise, straight forward to follow
-maps easy to locate and areas of significance highlighted in “must see” list
-it explores significant features for that area - such as the shops, wildlife, restaurants or museums
-inspiring illustrations
-from a reputable publisher DK
-£10.69 - great price!!
Cons:
-nil
Verdict:
Excellent book and aid, delivers on every level that it promises - ‘inspire, plans, discover, experience’. If we one day are lucky enough to go we’ll be taking it with us, it’s small enough and a great reference to find a bite to eat en route!! Would absolutely recommend.

I got this dude for my flatmate who loves travelling through south and east Asia and Vietnam is one of his favourite countries to go to. Despite the fact he has been there a few times, he hasn’t seen as much as he wanted so I thought this will be a nice gift for him for his birthday.
The book has a really nice design with lots of helpful tips, maps and pictures. Overall I think its a really nice guide and I defiantly can recommend this choice
