The quality of Dickies shorts is excellent, and they are really comfortable through the legs, crotch, and seat. Unfortunately, the waist size was significantly off with the pair I ordered. What I ordered was a 40 waist size, which was reflected on the label but not reflective of the true waist size. My son wears a size 36 waist and these just fit on him. Not sure if I received a mislabeled pair or if they just run that small. Either way, definitely not true to size based on my experience.

These run incredibly small. Not sure how they decided to size these as I expect to go up or down a size depending on brand, but I just recently bought jeans from another brand and they fit perfect. Maybe two sizes up these shorts would close, but at least four sizes up to be comfortable and probably still snug. Who knows if the cut would fit right at that point though. I wish I didn’t have to give a star rating as they seemed great otherwise, but hard to tell as they didn’t fit. So I gave a three.

Comfortable, but not for thicker belts

I really liked the look and feel of these shorts, and the material is more durable than a typical short. However, if you like your belts on the thicker side, like leather or nylon mesh, you will find that the belt loops are too tight to fit them, especially where you have two widths because of the leftover belt after passing through the buckle. I was really disappointed as not being able to wear my belts is a deal breaker. I had to return the pair I ordered.

I purchased 2 pair of these shorts evidently from 2 different venders. Then one pair fit perfest. Then pair in this picture (tan) were at least 2 inches two short in the waist.. I couldn't come close to buttoning around the waist. Same brand same size and the tan pair were more like waist msize of 36...

I am a huge fan of Dickies pants and shorts for their durability, quality, and comfort. I bought these to replace the cargo shorts that have finally worn down an ripped. I typically wear a pair of these everyday for work and the switch up the colors each day. They are built to last and stains either do not take hold or are easily washed out without fading the pants/shorts. I will buy these again when the time comes.
