We had to send back the first pair, as the waist was too small (even though it was the same size as all my husbands other shorts & pants). We got the next size up and while they fit in the waist they are SO baggy. Like, think ‘90s skater shorts baggy. If that’s your thing, cool, you’ll love them. But they don’t fit like your basic Dickies shorts. I’ve got flared skirts with less fluff.
So I followed some of the previous comments and purchased a pair of these shorts that was 1 size larger than what I normally get, and they are very snug. Also, they have a clasp-type closure (instead of a button), which seems kind'a small and makes me nervous about that snapping at some point later on. Lastly, the legs on these shorts are HUGE, and it definitely does not fit as shown. Also, good luck getting a belt in those loops... You can do it, but it's not easy.
On the flip side, the material is great and VERY durable. The pockets have nice big sections of velcro to keep them closed as well.
All in all, decent shorts, but I haven't a feeling they wont last because of the clasp closure at the waist.
I love Dickies. Sadly though, they said to order your size which I am a good 42 to 43. Ordered a 44 just to be sure and I cannot wear these shorts. It even says loose fit, but they are not. I've put them away until I can loose a little bit and try them again.
already planned on buying one size up, since all others I've owned were a shade tight. all the reviews suggesting the same only confirmed my plan. very surprised to find that one size up is too large a size. guess I'm just extra medium. they are wearable, and I am keeping them. too impatient to send back and wait for replacements. they work better when I tuck a shirt in on cooler days, so they'll probably just be my sping/fall shorts.
The legs were way too baggy while the waist was a little tight. I think that these would be good for those bodybuilders who have immense thighs and small waists. I had to send them back lest I look like I have chicken legs
