We recently purchased a raised bed for our 18 month old. She has been okay so far but we really wanted the security of no chance of falling. This was a great price and the size is impressive. I didn't read enough into the description about it not being suitable for recessed mattresses.. I found out on the actual item instructions. I feel this information should be in the main item description, not far down in 'extra information'. However, luckily, our daughters bed is only recessed slightly we can still fit the rail!

We bought this for our daughter as her other one had torn beyond repair, but it has been sent straight back as it does not fit securely to the bed. It is designed for a divan bed with a deep, heavy mattress - not a slatted bed.
The photos in the manual and in the description are very deceiving. There is no way to secure this to the bed slats properly, as it uses the mattress as a weight to secure the guard’s position. So if any weight is put on the guard, the mattress will tilt with it and cause an injury. It also won’t sit correctly as our bed has a very slight lip, so there’s a gap of around an inch between the guard and the slats.
Unless you have a divan bed, try another, much safer brand which can be screwed to the slats. They’re very similar in price.

Disappointed that it does not state clearly that it does not work with any kind of recessed mattress.
So if your mattress is not flush with the top of your base, it will not work properly.
Had to send it back and get a different kind, the Safetots bed rail.

Great for a single bed, to big for cotbed read on

So I brought this for a cot bed but I found it to long, lucky my 3 year old has a single bed with a different guard a shorter one, so we put that on the cot bed and this on a single bed. I wouldn't recommend for a toddler cot bed it takes up the whole length and leaves toddler in our case (nearly 2) no where to climb out so we used our diff branded one. I did use this one on a single sized bed for my nearly 4 year old, I would recommend this for a toddler or child above 3 and a single bed, I didnt really like the idea or the straps hooking under as our other one doesn't have that, but I think where this one is long and bigger it needed to be hooked under a mattress to hold it in place, side note( cotbed mattress wouldn't hold this in place well) the single mattress has the weight to hold in place well. I still gave 4 stars because it is made well I would just say for older toddler/child and a single bed unless you want your child trapped in the cotbed in which case they will just try to climb this.

Bought this as my one year old sleeps with me in a king size bed. I was putting a rolled up cot quilt under the fitted sheet every night to prevent him from rolling out. This took up bed space and had to be removed to make the bed neatly. The bed guard fitted my king size bed no problem, was easy to assemble and I can just fold it down to make the bed. I love it!!! My boy is secure and you can’t see it once bed is made.
