Pretty slip dress on its own or for layering

I normally wear a size XS but went with a S just in case. Definitely could've gone with the XS – the S is a bit big on me, especially in the armpit and waist areas. So definitely go with your actual size! I'm hoping it'll shrink a bit over time in the dryer, but I plan on wearing it layered under jackets or over shirts anyways.

I saw a similar outfit on an IG influencer and thought it looked so cute. She used a graphic short sleeved t-shirt instead though. I was a bit nervous about ordering the small because I have muscular legs and all the satin dresses I’ve tried on in the past have been tight over my booty and thighs. This dress doesn’t cling at all and the fabric is just heavy enough to weigh it down a little and feel solid (if that makes sense). I’m a 34D, 27” waist and 36” hips. 138lbs and 5’5”. Buy it. You won’t regret it!

I am a pretty typical size medium, across the board. The medium in this dress was very wide across the chest and poked out below my underarms; it was obviously too big. It was also a little longer on me than pictured in the product photos, even when I adjusted the straps to try and make the dress shorter. I then ordered the small, which fixed all of my sizing issues. My only problem was still the length. I just could not make the dress hit at a flattering point on my leg, and the side slits were not helping to make the fit more flattering on my body type (athletic body type). I think I need something with a single front slit, so I ended up returning the small in this as well. I think this would look much better on people with a very slim body type.

I will say the fabric was good quality and had a little bit of stretch to it. This did help me when I had to size down to the small, as it allowed room enough for my wider hips/butt.

I wanted a slip dress to layer with other pieces but I wasn’t sure if I would wear it enough to justify the cost of a silk version, so this is what I settled on. It is shiny but not too shiny/slippery. The fit is good, I am 5’8, 130 lbs and I got a small in the black color. I may stitch up the side slits somewhat so that I don’t feel self-conscious wearing this to work over a collared shirt or under a sweater. Overall good fit and doesn’t feel cheap but $50 is a bit expensive for polyester.
