You definitely get your money's worth with these and I'd recommend them to anyone looking into picking locks, and for $20 there's not much reason to not grab a set. The one worry I have is that the tension wrenches might bend out of shape or even snap eventually, but if you use them that much then you should probably buy some higher end tools anyway. Also, the instructions are pretty bad, so I'd recommend searching online for how to do it, it took me about 20 minutes of trial and error to get to a point where I could crack the included lock consistently.

Genuinely terrible. Im not talking about the amount of sanding that each of the tools need; but the fact that the thin wiper is too small to even rotate the lock barrel, the thick wiper is garbage that constantly slips in the lock because the metal of the barrel is so incredibly soft. Speaking of the barrel, it does NOT want to rotate to the point that I have difficulty even opening it with the key and havent once been able to open it with the picks because of that fact. I have been able to use them to open other locks, but damn near bent the large tension wrench permanantly with how soft they are.

I got these to be a cheap set of tools I could keep in my backpack and not care about, but they belong in the bin.

Good for the price

This lock picking set is my first locking set, and it's very good for beginners. However, I would like a larger range of hooks, rather than so many rakes in the set. Specifically a higher set hook.
The tools aren't particularly comfortable to hold, as they're made as cheap as possible with 2 pieces of steel bound together with rivets.
In regards to the selection of tension wrenches, as this is a beginner kit, it only comes with 3, and that is definitely not enough.
The practice/example lock that comes with the set is incredibly easy to pick, I did it on my first time ever picking a lock with no problem at all. Unfortunately the step from that example lock to a real lock is a huge margin.
Overall, I would recommend this product to people who want to try their hand at lock picking for the first time, but be aware you will need to buy other tools to be able to successfully pick other types of locks besides the example lock.

Crap lock, good picks

I bought this so I could pick my mates lock at school for a prank. While practicing with the tools I noticed that I probably should have bought a different kit. The lock is so flimsy and terrible that after an hour and a half of messing around with it it became impossible to use since the barrel had been chipped by the wrench beyond repair. Not only this but one of the pins in the lock unlatched and can’t be pushed upwards, even by the provided key. The picks were actually quite good, other than the fact that they were pretty hard to get in and out of the lock easily, making it quite hard to rake. The thin wrench was just that, way too thin, not even managing to turn the barrel. All in all, if there’s a way to get just the picks for this kit and get an actual functioning lock then I would totally recommend it, but since I don’t think that’s a thing, you should search out a more reliable kit then this one that for some stupid reason Amazon recommends. :(

The practise lock is very easy and will open with basically no effort, so I would suggest buying another lock to learn with as you won’t gain much from the lock provided once you’ve opened it a couple of times. The instructions are also horrible so just throw them away and jump on YouTube if you’re a beginner. The picks themselves seem to be pretty good quality especially considering the price. I have been able to open 2 different padlocks with them so far and I’m sure they’d be capable of cracking most normal locks with more experience.
