The Girl I Used to Know centers around two women - one, a middle aged housewife who it appears, has everything and a cranky spinster who is a resident of the basement flat and refuses to budge.
Both women grow throughout the story, in different ways. One learning what it is to forgive and forget and the other learning she's lost sight of herself in a bid to keep her husband happy.
The two, who have been at odds for years, develop an unlikely friendship and together, discover there's more to life.

Amanda King and Tess Cuffe are strangers who share the same Georgian house, but their lives couldn't be more different. Amanda seems to have it all, absolute perfection. She projects all the accoutrements of a lady who lunches. Sadly, the reality is a soulless home, an unfaithful husband and a very lonely heart. By comparison, in the basement flat, unwanted tenant Tess has spent a lifetime hiding and shutting her heart to love. It takes a bossy doctor, a handsome gardener, a pushy teenager and an abandoned cat to show these two women that sometimes letting go is the first step to moving forward and new friendships can come from the most unlikely situations.

I adored this uplifting and poignant story about the lives of two very different, yet similar women, living literally on top of each other! Tess was my favourite, and I enjoyed seeing her character develop and change as she encountered upheaval in her life. Amanda too learns what's most important, the hard way. Both women lost so much, but discovered they had so much to gain and look forward to in the future. I too am looking forward - to more fab stories from this skillful author!

After reading Faith's first two books I was so looking forward to this... and it didn't disappoint! in fact this is possibly my favourite!! Faith is just such a beautiful writer, surely one of the best in her genre....yet again I fell in love with the characters and was sad to say goodbye. If your wondering whether to buy this book.. just do it... I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Another wonderful story from this talented author. Faith Hogan has an incredible way with words and her prose whisk you off into picturesque locations that are so vivid in the imagination you can feel the heat of the sun on your skin.
I adored the two headstrong women in this story and loved how their lives became inextricably linked and how they impacted eachother in such meaningful ways.
I can highly recommend this story to anyone who loves to get lost within the pages of a well written book.
