After reading the other reviews about going two band sizes up & two cups down, I ordered a 42B instead of my usual 38C (in Victoria's Secret). I couldn't go down two cup sizes, because this bustier doesn't come in an A cup for the 42. The fit is perfect. It is neither too tight, nor too loose. I do have to fasten the hooks in the front then turn it around to the back. That was a bit tough, but when it's on it's not uncomfortable. The elastic at the bottom gives it more flexibility & also blocks the ends of the boning from poking into me. The cups are a rounded Madonna-like shape & are slightly big, but VERY slightly. I had to find a strapless bra for a bridesmaid dress that has a wrap look around the bust with an empire waist & low back (from David's Bridal - Long Mesh Dress with Cowl Back Detail). When the bustier is in place & the girls are in, the top center of the bra, where a small bow is located, pokes out of the dress when I move, so I will have to put in a small pin to hold it. If I pull the bustier down slightly while wearing the dress, it creates a dent on the top of both breasts. I had this happen with a VS strapless bra too, so I put that down to the dress being weird. Other than that the fit is fine. I do recommend following the rule of sizing two bands up & two cups down, or one in my case. Hope this helps!
So the sizing chart - like the sizing charts for ALL bustiers I've seen - is ridiculous! With that said, I normally wear a size 36F (in Cacique bras), but I also wear size 38DDD in some bras. I have another longline front closing bra in a size 38DD, and while it's a tad large around my ribs, I like it and and have worn it quite a bit, so I may have stretched it out a tad over time. I have an hourglass figure. Anyway, I ordered the same size (40DD) in this bra, and it was HUGE! I reordered a 38D, and while it's a tad large around the waist, I really love this bra so much and am SO glad I have it for my off-the-shoulders summer dresses and blouses!
A word of advice to help you determine your correct band size: You'll need to know your own body type when deciding on the band size for this bra. My torso gets smaller from my underbust down to my waist, so I probably should've bought a 36 rather than a 38. If you have a larger upper tummy or waist than your underbust, make sure you buy a band size that will accommodate the larger measurement. Concerning cup size, if I decide to purchase a 36 band size, I'll get the DD cup. I feel like this manufacturer's cup sizes run larger than the cups of the manufacturer's of my other bras. I would recommend going down at least one size for your first order.
If you are like myself and many women with large, heavy breasts and can't physically do the strapless bra thing- THIS IS THE ONE TO GET!!! It has double eye-and-hook closures, so if you have the body shape like mine and listen to the reviews about going up 2 band sizes and going down 1 or 2 cup sizes, it will be close. For the others, right on. I should have only done one band size up, but it still gets the job done. It holds in the most natural shape possible and holds well. I have had so many experiences with strapless bras slinking down or just not holding "the girls" in place. So I decided to do some testing. I did the arm raise- no movement. Arm raise and jumping and moving violently around- no movement. I bent to the sides- no movement, same with side bend and wild movement. I bent over- no movement. bent over and wildly thrash like I was seizing. Guess what, no movement! The corset midsection never moved and "the girls" never came out of their spaces. I also have a problem with "the girls" slumping and coming together in the center, no matter that cut of the bras. But this bustier keeps them separated, but not too far. If you are looking for a push-up cleavage exposing bustier, this is not for you. This thing gives excellent coverage and control and keeps "the girls" in the most natural position possible. Overall, THE BEST bra/bustier out there! And to make it even better, I had gotten the Shaper Queen 1020 women waist cincher girdle belly trainer corset body shapewear to control the abdominal and lower belly area. I can wear these two together, overlapping of course, and there is no tell-tale of them being there, let alone overlapping. They both stay put and are fantastic! I highly recommend getting these two if you are looking for great control without all the bulkiness! I will certainly be getting more of these bustiers for more daily wear!
I have been on a tireless search for a great strapless bra to hold up my "girls" for my wedding where I will be wearing an off the shoulder gown. Gravity has been working against me and the "girls" for 52 years now, so I was concerned that there may be no hope for adequate lift and support of my normal 40DDD bust. I'm a plus size girl, so I'm a challenge for most bras, BUT...I found Goddess! I normally wear Goddess bras and love the support and lift they provide, so I decided to try this Goddess Women's Lace Bustier Bra #GD0689. IT IS PERFECT!!!! I never knew a strapless could lift and support so well for me. I took the suggestions of the other ladies who wrote reviews and ordered mine 2 cup sizes smaller and one band width larger (42D). GREAT ADVICE! The size fit like a glove and I was so happy. I found my strapless bra at an affordable price...THANK YOU, GODDESS, for thinking of us bigger girls who want to look the best we can! I'm a Goddess fan!
Bras are a troublesome thing for me, I have a shoulder injury that can't have straps on the shoulders. This bra is a good answer for that problem. It is comfortable to wear when standing and holds up the weight of the breasts well for the first few months. I wear this daily and after a few months, the metal boning that goes down the waist starts to become too flexible and it doesn't hold up the breasts very well after that. I have a short torso with larger stomach so when sitting, the boning doesn't lay flat, it digs into my ribs or back. I think someone with a longer torso or flatter stomach would have no problem. Another problem with daily wear is that the boning can cut through the top or bottom of the casings. I do a lot of mending for this problem. I have to have my husband or daughter fasten the hooks in back, so it is kind of hilarious to get it on. However, overall it is a well made product and creates a nice looking line in an evening gown and would have very little problems if it was worn only for special events instead of daily. Check reviews and talk to the Goddess company to get the correct size bra.
As a 32 J-K this is a lifesaver on my shoulders. I followed some other recommendations and ordered a 34 FF. It fits... mostly. My boobs are just So. Freaking. Big. that I was not surprised to see the cups are a wee bit smallish and I have some pop-top going on. Their current sizing options just don’t provide a back/boob combo that would fit me perfectly. And I’m willing to live with that because how many years (decades?) have I been dreaming of a bra like this... After wearing this all day I have no headache, no between the shoulder blades middle of the back my husband isn’t sure where to rub pain, no neck and shoulder pain. All the weight is distributed down to my ample hips and is much easier to carry that way. I love it so much that I’ve already decided to get a larger size to accommodate my big tatas and just have the sides taken in a bit to fit my body. Another plus: my honey pie thought this was for him, and is eagerly asking me to get it in black as well.
I am 32 years old, 5'3'', 240 lbs, wear size 18 jeans and a 2x top. My usual bra size from Torrid is a 42DD. I was wishy washy over picking a size because of the reviews but decided to start with my typical size and ordered a 42DD planning to return and adjust accordingly.
I tried many of these lower back strapless contraptions for every military ball, dance, prom, formal event ive ever been to and they are absolute torture. I have been resorting to wearing a normal bra and tucking the straps when something calls for a strapless bra to hoist the girls up. I am getting married in a few months and decided to try again so im not having to constantly adjust my normal bra under my wedding gown.
It fit snug but not tight, i am more apple in shape than hourglass but it wasn't so tight it was uncomfortable or so loose it would fall off. I felt contained and lifted, but you do end up with a little bit of an old school 90's torpedo shape, however my dress has a corset will mash them back into a more natural roundness. I am very surprised it only took one shot to order a well fitted size from the reviews, but i am exremely happy with this purchase.
I'm a DDD and HATE wearing bras. They dig into my shoulders, hurt my back, and leave livid lines on my skin no matter how professionally fitted they are. Large breasts are just heavy. There's no way around that.
With this corset, though, the weight is distributed along my entire torso. It's harder to bend, yes. But that's worth it to lose the back ache, neck ache, and shoulder pain.
Plus with the strapless fit I can wear so many tops that used to be impossible for me to wear. More costumes, cute tops, and dresses just look better and I feel better in them without my bra straps digging into my shoulders.
Basically if you've got a sizable chest, consider a comfortable day corset like this one instead of a standard bra.
If you are a curvy girl like me, then you probably want to wear the cute strapless or off the shoulder tops that are the rage right now, but the girls just scream at you "NO WAY". And if you're like me, you probably have atleast one strapless bra from the major clothing store for curvy women and it is absolutely NOT the most comfortable bra! I wear it and can't wait to get home and take it off!
THIS bra was incredible. It was a little tricky to get it on, but once I got it on, it was great. I wore it all day. I shopped, I ate out, I hung out with friends. I even played with my mastiff. The bra held perfectly and was comfortable!!
I am a 40DD; after reading other reviews I decided to order a 40D. Glad I did. I would recommend this to any woman who wants to have support AND be comfortable wearing strapless or off the shoulder clothing. IT'S THE BEST!!
