Directions:

Do not swallow. - Remove the product from the packaging. - Clip securely onto the rim of the toilet as pictured. - When the block is used up, simply dispose of the unit in the trash and replace. - Wash hands after use.

I was asked to try this product and was unimpressed. Immediately, I was very disappointed that the plastic holder was NOT reusable and an excessive amount of unnecessary packaging was used. The product itself is obvious and not particularly attractive when it sits in the toilet and the fragrance is not particularly pleasant... quite a chemical smell, in fact. Overall, unimpressive and the manufacturer is out of touch with awareness of what's best for the environment.

Pulled the first one out of the packet, went to extend the arm to clip on the side of the toilet bowl - CRACK, the plastic arm snapped. Rendering the freshener USELESS!
Opened my second one - CRACK - SNAPPED AGAIN! Furious.

Luckily amazon support is so helpful, and they provided a voucher + contacted the manufacture. My bet is that it was a manufacturing fault. Won't be purchasing this specific product again.

Ideal design for the product and it does the job well but nowhere can I find on the packaging or on the web any assurance that it is ok to use in a septic system. In the MSDS it warns against disposing of it in a sewer. I'm just hopeful and very wary that it will be ok.
