Received the cross today. Comment regarding the art, material, craftmanship of the cross.
Art: Totally different than the Amazon sale picture. All edges are straight cut, no wavy feature. Look bare and ugly. Material: Don't know if it is real olive wood. Look like pine or thing from the pallet. No grain texture, no wood stain, no reddish color. Ugly. Craftmanship: Sharp egdes and burr. No certification or whatever info indicate from olive, bethlehem, jerusalem, ... Shipment is wrapping with bubble plastic sheet with sloppy tape, no gift presentation like. Ugly.
Religion teach truth and honest. This piece of workmanship does not reflect that. A cheapy gift to someone. Hopefully they will accept it due to a symbol of religion.
This is a nice olive wood wood cross that came with an authenticity card to show this item came from the holy land in Israel. One feature that is not very clearly shown on the current picture is the edges on the front side (Jesus side) of the cross are not routed in a uniform bevel edge, but in a wavey pattern which I personally don't like but it's not terrible. I'll keep the cross because I like the Olive Wood colors, but would have liked an option to purchase a cross that has even/uniformly routed edges. Just my personal preference. But the cross itself is solid and appears well made. Top rear has a small hole that is only half deep, so it's ready to be hung using a small nail and the nail head is hidden when mounted.
The wood crosses were purchased to distribute to family members following a funeral. They are lovely! The wood and the Christ are not plastic, they look very distinguished. That they apparently came from wood from the Holy Land was a big plus. Excellent purchase, thank you!
