I prefer to not have to write this hear as I’m
sure that it’s a rare situation but i unboxed my light pad and it had a stain in the middle that came up brighter than across the screen. I also don’t know if i was sent the wrong one as the instruction manual describes the design to be have a function that allows me to turn on the pad without power but this one did not have this option. I’m so so SO disappointed I don’t know what to do with it as I have no clue how to get a refund or and exchange for this product. HOWEVER if there were no issues with mine I’m sure I would have loved it. It’s a perfect size, super easy to use and light weight which is ideal. I’m sorry to complain here, I was given no other place to submit feedback

Good sized working surface. The actual light adjustment touch button is a bit twitchy but the light is good and adjustable. The build quality is excellent and product styling is lovely. Good solid unit but lightweight as well. I’m sure there are cheaper light box units out there but Huion is one of the market leaders and for only saving Maybe10-15 dollars I just couldn’t take the chance. I want peace of mind if anything goes wrong that I can go to the company and have it fixed.

For those who don’t know - copy from a sketch book paper onto thick watercolour paper in a dark room. This will help see the outlines under the paper much clearer.
I’ve not had to do this yet though, I find the brightness fantastic.

I am an animation student and needed a light table to do traditional animation and tracing work so I chose to go with the Huion L4S.

SIZE: At first I wasn't sure how bulky or big the light table was since I've never owned one until purchasing this, but it definitely is the perfect size! The size is not intimidating at all. An 8x11" size paper perfectly fits the active area without being too snug as there is still some space at the margins. My biggest concern was being able to use it for traditional animation. I use 10x12.5" animation paper and when you place it on the light table, it covers the entire table. It sounds like a problem but it is actually fine because, think about it, most of the time I am drawing at the center of the paper so the few centimeters of the margins are not important. So the verdict is yes, using 10x12.5" paper for animation is completely doable! The animation peg bar can also be taped at the bottom and does not overlap into the active area!

WEIGHT: It is surprisingly much lighter than my Wacom Bamboo Connect tablet (half the light table's size). It isn't a strain on the arm to carry and is truly portable. You can throw it in your backpack or tote bag and it won't be too much of an added weight. The build feels sturdy for the most part and does not feel cheap. Do note that the surface is made of acrylic so let's say you are erasing on the light table. You will feel yourself pushing it and will definitely see bending in the middle. There are also 4 little foam circles at each corner that allows it to grip on any surface.

LIGHT QUALITY: The brightest level is much brighter than I thought! It is quite bright and is spread evenly which makes working on it a breeze. In terms of the amount of paper you can layer, I found 5 pieces of animation paper (slightly more translucent than regular paper) to be the maximum of still being able to make out the layers below. Four pieces of animation paper is the optimal number and 6 layers is very unclear and hard to see.

Inevitably, there are CONS as well:
*Adjusting brightness takes some practice. This is achieved by using the Power touch sensor - the only "button" on the entire product. Like everyone has mentioned, changing the brightness takes getting used to. You have to keep your finger on the Power button and wait for the light to go through all its brightness levels. Once the light is at your desired brightness, you remove your finger from the surface. Sometimes you will be too early/late at removing your finger and will have to go through all the levels again which is the slightly annoying part.
*The Power/Brightness button is sensitive and very easily triggered! Because it is a touch sensor and not an actual button, it is easy to accidentally touch it. This means there will be instances you turn off the light pad even with just an accidental graze of your finger! This still happens even if paper is covering the surface and your finger is on top of that paper.
*USB cord seems fragile and cheap. The cord is a flat wire and feels flimsy so be very careful with handling it.

Overall, it is a great product that does exactly what it needs to at a great price! Glad I bought it!

UPDATE: The sensitivity of the Power button is actually really annoying especially if you're left handed so it's probably a good idea to rotate it to prevent this from happening. Take it from me who, at the moment, decided to stop working on their assignment to add this bit of info because of how irritating it was, lol.

It is simple to use and the light intensity is evenly spread across the entire tracing surface. The brightness can be easily adjusted up or down to suit the materials in used. Bright enough to trace onto premium grade (130lb) watercolour paper. Power is supplied via a 5 volt plug-in power adapter or you can connect the cable to a USB port on your laptop or PC. Do take a moment to read and follow the instructions for your initial setup. After that, copying is simple.

I've been using this light box for a couple months now and have had no problems with it. It works well in most lighting situations and provides a sturdy, light weight surface for drawing and tracing. The size works well for me since it's large enough to fit the paper I draw on while also being able to fit in my bag to carry around. I've been able to easily adjust the light brightness and I've had no problems with the light accidentally being turned off since my hand is usually nowhere near the power button when I'm drawing.

Good illumination, pretty well even across full screen. I use it to create flat fields for CCD astroophotgraphy imaging and tests showed drop off is about 10% from center to edge.

Intensity control good across full spectrum, red through H-Alpha, although narrow band imaging is good, it is still too bright for Luminance channel. Red & Green a bit too brighth, but Blue and H-Alpha ok.

90* offset test (dark subtract image one at 0* and image 2 at 90* showed pretty good and very similar illumination on both axes.

USB connection is OK although a little loose. USB wire was suffifiently long about 3 ft so it can be used far from connection,. No USB power adapter was supplied
