Beim Lego City Meeresforschungsschiff handelt es sich um ein gelungenes Spielset für Kinder im Grund- und Vorschulalter.

Gut gefallen haben:
- Durch den großen Rumpf ist das Set wirklich riesig. Alles ist stabil konstruiert und zerbricht auch beim Herumtragen nicht.
- Die Anleitung ist wie gewohnt kleinschrittig gehalten. Auch für Kinder deutlich unterhalb der offiziellen Altersempfehlung (7+) ist der Aufbau kein Problem.
- Viele Spielelemente wie Kran, Mini-U-Boot, Wrack, Schlauchboot und der tolle große Haifisch stellen unterschiedliche Aspekte des Themas Schiffahrt/Meeresforschung dar und werden hier seit mehreren Tagen vielfältig bespielt.
- Highlight für die Erwachsenen: Auch eine Espresso-Maschine ist mit an Bord.
- Bug und Heck haben vergleichsweise viel leere Fläche und lassen dadurch Platz für eigene An- und Umbauten.
- Die großen Schiffsrümpfe (zwei Teile) lassen sich prima als Grundlage für andere Schiffe nutzen. Meinen Erfahrungen nach macht Kindern der Bau der oberen Schiffsteile meist mehr Spaß, als die Konstruktion des Rumpfes. Vorgefertigten Teile sind also durchaus willkommen. Man ist natürlich auf das Thema "Schiff" festgelegt und beim Umbau später weniger flexibel, als bei vielen anderen Lego-Sets.

Weniger gut gefallen haben:
- Beim Schiffswrack hat Lego sich leider entschieden, nur das Heck eines versunkenen Schiffes darzustellen. Das schränkt die Spielbarkeit unnötig ein. Wenige Teile mehr hätten daraus ein vollständiges Segelschiff machen können das nicht nur als Wrack, sondern auch als Begleitschiff oder ähnliches geeignet gewesen wäre.
- Die große Aufkleber-Debatte unter Lego-Fans möchte ich hier nicht führen. Allerdings wurden die Aufkleber dieses Sets auf transparentem Untergrund gedruckt. Bei den gelben Streifen am Bug führt dies leider dazu, dass der dunkelblaue Rumpf des Schiffes durchscheint und die Farben deutlich matter und dumpfer erscheinen, als auf den Produktfotos. Dies ist mir bei bei anderen Lego-Sets bisher nicht begegnet (siehe Foto).
- Der Kran löst sich beim Spielen manchmal von seiner Drehscheibe. Hier hätte ich mir eine stabilere Konstruktion gewünscht. Ebenso ist die Kranaufhängung des Mini-U-Boots (unterhalb der Scheibe) etwas unglücklich gelöst.

Fazit:
Kindern bereitet das Set viel Vergnügen. Den von Lego angesetzte Preis von 130€ empfinde ich (wie immer), als unangemessen hoch, zumal die Teileanzahl und Bauzeit durch den großen Rumpf deutlich geringer ausfällt, als bei vergleichbaren Lego-City-Sets.
