Just say no. Here's why.
I have trusted the quality of McCormick. Loved their more finely ground Gourmet. It's superior flavor.
There is evidence of their obsession with flavor. Quality.
I wanted to save money. Bought this. Big mistake. Yes it's 20 oz. But. It's EXTREMELY fine ground. The chunky dusty kind that becomes smoke in your nose, dust in your eyes, sticks to everything. Few other reviewers commented on the grind. Think of the spectrum from extremely coarse to this extremely fine. Gourmet spice should be fine. Cooks wouldn't use coarse, it won't mix as well. The only way to use this is to open the top and VERY CAREFULLY spoon it out. Allegedly 1 tablespoon is equal to one medium onion. I needed more.
McCormick touts being socially responsible. You cannot see the particle size here as you would with other products or in a store. In my pictures please look at the texture of the powder. Is that something you want to work with? Cooking is a pleasure when preparing what you love with quality ingredients. This does mix readily which is the only reason for two stars. You need more of it for the same taste as using granulated, minced or chopped - which also enhance the texture. This was a massive disappointment. Calling it culinary justified the amount per container, not its quality. Culinary garlic powder is better quality and texture.
Again, do not try to open the top to shake some out.
Can you use this? Yes. Is it time consuming, more difficult, annoying? Yes. Consider the price, the benefits, the difficulties, before purchase.

Moreover and counterintuitively, the fine grind makes it more difficult to add to sauces. It quickly disperses into little bubbles of onion dust surrounded by liquid that you have to hunt down and mash against the side of the pan with the back of a spoon.
It tastes really good and it's a great value, but 5 years from now when I run out of this product, I will thankfully return to McCormick's granulated onion powder. It's my own fault as several of the reviews mentioned this but I was too lazy to read them.

If you run out of onions, need the flavor but don't want to make a special trip to the store to buy onions-this is it. Sometimes even cooking with actual onions I add a dash. It is potent but not "spicy".
For people that hate onions (only because they see the onion) substitute with this powder. I have cooked dishes when friends had previously remarked "I hate onions, I don't ever eat them."' I prepared their meal using this powder and not only do they ask for seconds but leftovers. Never knowing onion powder was used! They just knew the meal was delicious.
Perfect for meats, salads, soups, and vegetables-specially those fried potatoes, roasts, and chili.
WARNING: This is "culinary" quality, not your cheaper cost/quality types sold at chain groceries. It will save you money, enhance the flavoring to a variety of your dishes.

I'd like to hear from McCORMICK on this with further explanation.
Note I have absolutely no problem with Amazon in terms of purchase terms and fulfillment, and most of my product reviews are 4-5 star, as I do my homework, but for a major manufacturer I expect far better product details.
