Love this book it has helped me go back to the basics and helped a great deal with my painting. With clear and concise steps it is easy to understand and would help anyone just starting out in painting with watercolour, I am sure I will go back and refer again and again to this book, it is beautifully presented with a spiral binding and is a pleasure to read. I would highly recommend this book.
This is a fantastic book. I’ve learnt so much. I’ve been using watercolour, self taught for a couple of years and got a number of books on the subject. This is the best of all of them. I’ve had a number of problems when using watercolours which this book has helped me to over come. The techniques in this book are in effect a foundation in watercolours. Perfect for beginners or like me self taught. She even describes how to prime your brush, never mentioned in other books. Simplistic yes, but it changed the way I paint. I’ve had many aha moments with this book.
Also it is so beautiful to look at and the spiral binding means you don’t struggle with keeping a page open. Thank you to the author for a wonderful book.
I was a little put of by the price of £21.23 for a single book but I am so so happy I did! This book is Stunning, the cover & the detail on the corners, the fact that it is spiral bound - and the content. I literally learnt so much just from the initial flick through when it arrived. This is so beautiful it will be kept out in our front room as a coffee table book. I didn't realise there were pictures you can trace at the back, this is a wonderful surprise and very useful for those of us not confident or in love with drawing and more interested in learning how to paint. This book is beautifully presented, written well (sounds silly but right from the intro the author comes across as warm and knowledgeable) and is packed with content. I am very happy with this book, i'm considering buying another in case this gets damaged by the kids or my paints as I follow one of the tutorials.
This book is written for people who have never even picked up a paintbrush. The author recommends poor quality paints and tells you step by step how to paint a picture: she even provides a template that can be traced. Ideal for 10 years olds but this is not the book to get you either inspired or to improve your painting. There are far better books on the market. I would send it back if I could but it comes wrapped in film so cannot be returned. Such a disappointment.
This book is beautifully constructed with a sturdy coil spine and hardcover. The layout, editorial, photographs and chapters are put together in such a way that you almost can't put the book down. There are also traceable line drawings at the back. If I could give the book 10 stars, I would !! For anyone who is considering watercolour or for experienced artists, this book should be on your studio shelf immediately.
