This could be a perfect and nice looking kettle with some modifications by the manufacturer. (When will they catch on that many consumers would like metal and glass appliances?)
If you're not worried about plastics in your kettle, then I would give this 5 stars.
I have given it only two stars because it is EXCEPTIONALLY NOISY when boiling. Forget listening to the radio or holding a conversation in the kitchen, or sleeping in a bedroom above the kitchen when it is switched on. The noise actual hurts ones ears and a groan goes up in the kitchen/family room if the occupants are trying to watch TV. When it is first switched on, the kettle makes an awful crackling sound as though it is being boiled without water. Another annoying issue is that the water level indicator is hidden behind the handle and the water level is completely obscured. Another irritation is that the lid is not hinged which makes filling the kettle awkward. Although it can be filled through the spout, you cannot tell how much water is in the kettle because of the difficult-to-see level indicator.
I am extremely reluctant to part with it, but feel that I may have to return the kettle for a quieter less attractive model :(
