I bought the 100 sight word book earlier in the year and now my daughter is 5 this one is equally very educational. It's very straight forward and there are so many relevant excercises in there for younger ones. This has been a great tool to help with home schooling through lockdown
I bought this for my 4 yrs old daughter. She is about to start reception and she enjoyed the book a lot. Some of the exercises for writing was a bit hard for her so maybe better for 5-6yrs old but still good for anyone who is starting to write the letters now.
The good part: they seem to have picked a good set of 200 words to learn how to spell.
The bad part: everything else.
Most of the book involves tracing words written on the traditional "three lines": top line, bottom line, and a dotted center line.
BUT THE WORDS THEY HAVE THE KID TRACE DO NOT TOUCH THE LINES PROPERLY!!! On every page, the letters are floating above the bottom line, and the lower case do not go up to the middle line. Further, none of the tall letters reach anywhere near the top line. It's like they wrote an entire book and don't even know what these lines are for!!! A kid cannot learn to write correctly with this. In fact, they will learn to write INCORRECTLY.
Further, the example sentences don't seem to be correct English. "The owl is on the tree." No, we say "in" the tree! Another insults the student: "I am in kindergarten," it has them write. My second grader (whose English is his second language) took offense at this. I found some examples also not politically correct. The GIRL likes unicorns. The BOY likes fast cars. Why reinforce these old stereotypes?
I don't want to return a workbook after using ten pages of it, and I think under Amazon rules if I return it I would not be able to also review it. It's more important for me to warn people to stay away from this horrible book, than to get my money back. YOU ARE WARNED.
