The non-slip absorbent bath mat (mat) arrived sooner than expected and came in good condition. Thanks, Amazon (Au) and Australia Post for prompt delivery.
I use the mat to protect my rug from spills. So far, nothing has been spilt on the mat, so I can't attest to its absorbency. However, there appears to be an internal layer of foam sponge, appropriate 5mm thick. This may provide some absorbency.
The soft mat pile is both short and fine (it reminds me of peach skin fuzz) with reasonable density (I can't readily see any mat backing).
The mat backing has numerous small (1-3mm) individually adhered semi spherical nodules (assisting with non-slip property). On my rug, the mat offered some resistance to movement. On my sealed slate floor and glazed floor tiles the mat was (surprisingly) resistant to movement.
The mat edging (tape) is well sewn and suitably matched with the mat patterning.
My concerns are:
1. regarding the durability of the fine mat pile
(particularly if exposed to regular foot traffic).
2. in relation to the permanence of the individual
anti-slip nodules.
In summary, my main apprehension is one of durability (especially for trafficked areas). Additionally, a larger size option would have been most welcomed. Would I buy this mat for a family bathroom? Probably not. Four stars for my protective application.
