1.0 out of 5 stars Brittle. Tons of stringing. Produces badly looking prints at suggested temperatures
By Peter C on 15 December 2020
Unhappy with my purchase. Filament has extremely brittle layer bonds. Prints literally break apart when removing them from the bed. Tried all temps (180-225) and all part cooling fan speeds. Recommended temps are apparently 195-230 but anything above 195 results in weird-looking walls (clogging? additives oozing unevenly? as pictured - uneven surface. Note that stringing is much worse when printing actual prints)

On top of that it oozes badly (I guess because silk-type of filament). Anything above 185 (so, also the recommended temps) results in bad stringing in prints. At 215 I was not able to get a single good print even with extreme retractions like 10mm. And at 225 it breaks apart just easily as at 185

I guess this might be good for figures etc but for anything else it's quite useless. If you can take it off the bed without breaking at all that is.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shiny silk like silver PLA filament
By Ronald L. on 12 February 2020
The packaging had full protective foams BUT as shiw on picture the air seal plastic bag was damaged already. Moisture air could go in the filament....
The shiny filament itself is very fragile under 0.2mm nozzle 210'C, 0.14mm resolution

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a bit to calibrate, but once you do the results are great!
By Milton P. on 26 November 2020
To get the best results, print with high layer resolution, avoid supports, and be sure to set fixed layer start points. If possible, try to have angled ceilings (the base in the picture I provided was printed at a 45 degree angle, which is why the top is so nice and reflective).

5.0 out of 5 stars Product photos don't lie, this is as good as it looks!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2020
Bought this on a whim, I don't normally print ornamental knick knacks as generally it's a waste of plastic but having done a major upgrade on my Qidi X-Max (genuine E3D V6 hotend) I thought I'd give this silk metal-look stuff a go to see what it could do, and boy it doesn't disappoint.

My prints are coming out just as good as the product photos suggest, and unless you physically examine the print, you'd not know it isn't actually metal.

Brilliant, will buy more of this brand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice finish, but no good for mechanical strength
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 February 2021
I got this as the boss decided they wanted to see what some parts would look like in "metal" before we had something properly machined.

The finish is quite translucent when it's thin, so if you're printing 0.1mm layers, you'll be able to see the print lines from the layer beneath.

I tried to make some parts that needed to have some mechanical strength (I needed to screw something together) and the print just cracked and snapped off. Even a vertical plate snapped off with not much force.

I tried different hot end temperatures, and even ran a temperature tower to see if that would help. That didn't assist much,. and just proved that this PLA isn't up for bridging etc.

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading advertised model picture
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 December 2019
I bought this as my kid wanted a “rainbow” (ish) model printed out.

As you can see in the picture there is nothing even close to the advertised image, showing a lot of colours within the same model.

On my model were used 47g of filament and barely got two colours variation.

Hence, unless you plan for a big volume model, with 100% infill rate and 100g+ weight, don’t think that your resulted item will be near close to the advertised image.

Otherwise is a decent PLA filament. Haven’t encountered any jams and has a decent retraction.
