I was a little wary of these but i ordered them anyway as they have received good reviews in the pro mags and websites.
I must say they fit well, move easily with you, and they really do help you stay cool (sourthern CA deserts etc). I still prefer my very lightweight Gramicci quick dry pants for down here, but any time i think i might get rained on, these are now my go to hiking pants
I cannot stand tons of pockets, zippers and other nonsense on pants. And although these have a little more of that stuff than i would have preferred, they are included in a nice subtle way that stays unnoticed. I am very happy with the fit, even though they are cut slim, they stretch and move and do not chafe in hot hiking.
So i decided to take these on a desert short section hike of the PCT, as it was windy and i was really itching to test them out more thoroughly. They were wonderful, best hiking pants i have ever used. They block the hot wind in the day, and the cold winds at night (<40 night 25 mph) at camp. I was suitably impressed. I hiked all day in hot dust and scrubland, near the end of the day i twisted an ankle and went splat, hard. Cut my knee and my shin. The pants were covered in desert dirt and dust, the only reason i knew i was cut was the pain. I had to pull the pants up to find them. 2 hours later i set up camp and checked myself and the pants, and cleaned the cuts. Pants shook clean, and looked like new the next day. Not a mark on them where i banged my knee or shin, not a trace of dirt or dust.
Really now i am very impressed. Highly recommended for anything outdoors, hiking, backpacking etc.
