This is a super high quality VERY long windbreaker (like light parka) for a TALL person. I knew what to expect so it was not a shocker. It is also heavy because of all the material. I'm 5'10" 125 (wear 6-8 in blazers) and grabbed a M because of then lower price. A 'S' could have sufficed. The zipper unzips from the bottom too and easier when walking. Color is a very light cool tone putty beige or taupe. I think the whole thing is fantastic but SUPER oversized by design. You will get looks. Doubt that there would be that much difference between S or M. After tightening sleeve straps and snapping off the poser black straps I'm perfectly happy wearing this cacoon while wearing comfy layers underneath. Yes, if you are short you'll drown in it and cannot be shortened. I'm happy. I suffer with RD/RA and this coat, while weighty, covers me from head to toe and I don't worry about what I have underneath, as I avoid any extra motion. We zipped off the hood. The only real irritant were the cute bows on sleeves - big, floppy and got in the way. Mine kept untying even though someone else did it for me. We eventually sewed in place and flattened them out. The 'ribbon' is thick a flat strap and attached inside coat wrist so it cannot be removed without some more extensive sewing and a good alternative.
Nonetheless, it's a highly functional item and if unique even if you have a closet full of Patagonia, North Face, etc . If I ever travel again, it'd be a must.
Update: 3/21- still loving this unique crazy coat. Loads of use. A little girl 🌸❣ asked her mom for 'that lady's caterpillar coat' - no better complement! Was surprised to read a review from a 'Brandon' who wrote that it hits at the knees 😳🤯. Not judging, but does 'he' play for the NBA and in platform heels?! 🤦‍♀️😂🤣
