Unfortunately, the warmth level of these Select tights for me means that I can only use them in the 50s, not in the 40s or in the 60s. It’s cloudy wet outside right now at 42F with 7mph wind and a feels-like of 37F and I tried these on and stepped on to my porch and my legs feel cold. They’ll probably get a bit warmer if I go running in them but I definitely can’t bike in them in the low 40s. Their wind protection ability seems mild at best if they are designed to block wind at all.
They are not and are not designed to be water resistant.
They don’t have neon reflective swathes on the back of the calves and buttocks like in the Pursuit thermal tights.
The material does feel like the usual PI good quality and feels comfortable on the skin, but the low warmth level and lack of much other features makes me think I can get much cheaper generic tights that would keep me equally warm and comfortable, so I’m a bit disappointed, but only a bit.
FYI, PI no longer uses the Select or Pursuit labeling schemes and makes just two type of tights: thermal *cycling* tights vs. thermal tights, the former with the chamois and the latter without, so these Select tights are from or before 2018 when PI stopped using the Select/Escape/Pursuit labeling.
