This is a first impression which I might update later.
PROS:
- very easy to peel the paper and it is a brilliant idea.
- the charcoal core is quite hard so I don't think they'll break easily but it affects softness (see cons)
- I like how they feel on the paper
- easy to sharpen to the tip (the hardness of core)
CONS:
- firstly the package says "medium, soft, extra soft" but I got "hard, medium, soft". I don't mind it that much but I thought it was worth mentioning.
- the charcoal core is quite hard, which means they're more sturdy but they don't go all as dark as some other brands (no panic, they're still very dark). Faber Castel (sorry to bring another company into it but I feel it's super important to have a comparison) PITT charcoals are very soft. I love the soft ones BUT they break so easily! I once bought a package in which the whole soft pencil was just disintegrating in front of my eyes while I was trying to sharpen it and once I dropped a medium one from 1.5cm onto paper and that was it. So the hardness of the core might be a con or pro depending on what you like.
One remark. They arrived superfast. I was impressed but I would suggest that the delivery people would not put them through the post slot before they made sure no-one was home (probably not possible to get them to do it). I was home and saw the box drop to the floor which made me scared they charcoals would be broken .
