For anyone lives in Australia (or other countries outside US) before you buy it, please be advised the app to support this product is "SleepMapper", which is unavailable in AU app store (I'm using IOS). There is a "DreamMapper" app (looks very similar) by Philips but it is NOT for this product.
To use its app function I had to 1. find a US-AU adapter; 2. use a US apple account to download the app; 3. set a home wifi hotsopt (because it cannot connect to my flat operator's wifi which requires logging in). So generally it's far away from "easy to use". Fairly speaking, it finally does what it said which is very good. But if my friends want to buy this I would definitely suggest them to consider twice especially if they are not very keen and confident about using the app.
No app available in Aus app store, but with difficulty I managed to get the US version.
It worked for a week, but then suddenly wouldnt connect. I tried everything beyond what their troubleshooting suggests, reset, uninstalled, updated software to latest version, factory reset device and tried different phone, it just wouldn't connect.
Then I checked the Play store reviews and this exact issue was more common than it actually working. So it's seems to be a complete failure of a product by design. The support is also useless.
I ended up getting a refund.
Don't waste your time and money.

I know how to read directions and resetting the device does not work (which btw requires a paperclip that is, hellooo, very quickly becoming if not effectively already obsolete in the household environment people, seriously?!). Redownloading the app (which was newly installed anyway but what the hell lets try it) does not work....FINALLY calling phillips during business hours and waiting on hold for a REAL good long time to talk about a warranty claim, however, does result in them saying they will send you a new one with surprisingly little info beyond ‘I have a new phone’. I assume because they know this is a serious problem BUT you now have to wait 47 days for your new alarm clock.....Truth....47 days.
At first it was 3-5 business days then an email that it was delayed another 7 days, then another email 1 day before it was to arrive saying it will be 33 moooore days. Anyone else lil confused bout this? Meeee too.
Back on the phone for me, cuz thats how everyone wants to spend their workdays.....
Me: “What do I need to do to get refunded?”
Them: “that will require you to go online to blahblah website, file a claim for a refund with product details, proof of purchase etc. and it will take at least 6-8 weeks for anything to go through if not longer” (Side bit of mental math, 6-8 weeks is 42+ days...interesting correlation )
Me: “Waaaaaait, so I called you folks weeks ago and walked through all this in painstaking detail and sent proof of purchase at which point you said a replacement unit was on the way and will be here in 3-5 business days. SO! Now that that is proving to be grossly unfounded Id like to change my answer Bob and I choose refund. I can buy it from your website today silly, aaaand from amazon aaaand from walmart aaand...”
Them: “there is nothing we can do, you have to go to blahah website and fill out all the required information and wait for that claim to process”
Me: ‘umm, so fill in all the info that you, phillips representative, are currently looking at?’
Them: ‘yes
Me: ‘uhhh whuuuuuuuuut.........
If only I could crowd source a response to this cuz I got nothin....truly at a loss.
Dear PHILLIPS, stating some obvious here but IoT is clearly not your thing. Also your customer service is terrible. So, so bad.
EPIC FAIl PHILLIPS

If it’s your first sleep lamp, you don’t need to go that expensive. All the models at 100$ will do the same job.
But, this model has some really extensives features like, advanced alarm program setting, measurement of temperature, humidity, sound level, etc of the room. You can control the light from your phone and link with Apple health you’re sleeping stats. There is advanced led color mixing inside for different sunset and sunrise shades.
Does it worth the price ? Probably not for most people, but for me yes. Those features are not found anywhere else. The quality of the led, dimming and light temperature (color) are the reason why it’s so expensive. Those are high end features but most people won’t see the difference with cheaper brand. I work in the entertainment lighting industry, so I really enjoy the color mixing and temperature and the dimming capacity.
Although, There is one big thing I don’t like vs my old Philips. It’s when you are using it as reading lamp, and turn on the sunset mode, the light is shutting completely down, then all the way up to the sunset mode. It should just go straight to the sunset mode without dimming the light all the way down. I hope it will be change with firmware update.

Anyway, I'm going to try and figure out how to return it and hopefully get a replacement or repair (sadly, it died after the return window for Amazon, though not by that much). If that works out, I'll come back and amend this review. Until then, one star because it broke my heart (and my amazing streak of being on time for work).

Long answer:
Unless you are in a room with no window, it won't be usefull AT ALL. A dark Cloudy morning is brighter than this.
Sunset is nice, and beautiful, but again, just buy phillips hue lamps. You don't need the most expensive sunset in the world.
Is it easy to setup? Yes
Are the light and colors beautiful? yes absolutely.
Is it beautiful and look premium? Yes
How does it sound? Generic. just schedule your phone to play an online radio for you in the morning.
Value for money? Zero.
What I ended up buying was a SAD light therapy lamp tht is connected to a smart switch. It turns it on in the morning.
