The Psychology Book: Big Ideas Simply Explained UK ed. Edition, Kindle Edition
How does memory work? Who is the "distractor" in your family? What was the "car crash" experiment?
This book is your visual guide to the complex and fascinating world of human behaviour. Discover how we learn, become emotionally bonded with others, and develop coping mechanisms to deal with adversity, or conform in a group. Get to know key thinkers, from Freud and Jung to Elizabeth Loftus and Melanie Klein, and follow charts and timelines to make sense of it all and see how one theory influenced another.
With pithy explanations of different schools of psychology including psychotherapy, cognitive psychology and behaviourism, this is an ideal reference whether you're a student, or a general reader. It's your authoritative guide to over 100 key ideas, theories, and conditions, including the collective unconscious, the "selfish" gene, false memory, psychiatric disorders, and autism.
If you're fascinated by the human mind, The Psychology Book is both an invaluable reference and illuminating read.
This large, stylish book takes the reader on a quick tour through the history and discipline of psychology, with tiny bits of information and loads of design. The title gets it right: these are indeed big ideas (and also plenty of small ones), and the explanations are simplified and presented in a number of ways. - PsychCentral.com
The Psychology Book is packed with everything you'd ever study in a Psych 101 class, and, as the subtitle suggests, it's all explained in a clear, simple way. - Wink Books, from the co-founders of Boing Boing--This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Took a while but I'm glad I read it
It’s theories and concepts are intriguing and easy to understand for a beginner or someone who has only briefly studied the subject as it explains things clearly and precisely.
It’s contents cover everything from its philosophical roots, behaviourism, psychotherapy and cognitive psychology among other subjects.
There is lots of hierarchy type tables along with graphs, pictures and big think piece quotes on the pages that sum up or try to explain the different concepts in sound bites, they stand out to help you try to grasp and remember what you’re reading.
It’s a colourful, well thought out and very interesting book that you can go back to again and again to study and soak up the subjects, theories and concepts within its pages.
The book acts as a good reference point for people who are either interested in psychology, or are perhaps currently studying the subject at A-Level.
Each topic is outlined with a brief history, the key concepts and a biography of the relevant psychologist.
This is one of many books which are available to purchase in the series.
On a side note, I brought this for my kindle and for a more visual-led book with diagrams and decorative features, the formatting came out quite well.
