My wife went into labor a year and a half ago and that labor went very quickly....so quickly that she ended up giving birth on our bed in the presence of EMTs. We then went to the hospital where I stayed overnight with my wife and new baby girl. The next day, once things had clamed down, I went home to clean up before they came home. For those who have witnessed or gone through child birth, you know what a mess I arrived to. For those who haven't, suffice to say there are many different types of fluids and a lot of them. Let's just say I was fully expecting to be purchasing a new mattress. To my amazement, once I'd bagged our sheets and this mattress pad, our mattress was perfectly fine. I bought another one immediately and will continue to use this brand as long as it exists. I challenge anyone to put it through a more rigorous test and I'm positive it can stand up to some sweat or your child's pee in the middle of the night. I could have posted a pic but it's better for everyone if I don't.
The texture is not as plastic at all, but it's not very breathable and it repels sweat, leaving it on the skin and the sheets instead of helping the air flow. I haven't tried it with fluids, I bought it because I'm pregnant and I want to save my mattress if my water breaks while sleeping, or after the birth with breastmilk, etc., but I don't like how it sounds and feels under the sheets. It makes a silent whoosh sound to the touch and makes the fitted sheet move a lot, so it's a bit harder to make the bed.
I guess it's better quality than others, but it's not the best thing in the market.
So far so good. My son spilt a full glass of water on this thing and the mattress was dry. Our $150+ protectors leak, and aren’t as nicely made... wish I saw this one first. The soft part is like a Terry cloth. Soaks up quite a bit, like a towel does. Good product! I’ve recommended it to my friends with children. No odour from the plastic side of it. Don’t put these things in the dryer tho. Delicate mode and hang to dry. Or just air dry mode. Sometimes with these covers the rubberized side can wedge my dryer and stall it. We were told the heat isnt good for them too. It dries in the course of a day if there is an accident that gets cleaned up in the morning.
Fits on the bed nicely and though I haven't spilled anything on it, it seems like it should be waterproof or at least water resistant. It's not exactly quiet like everyone says, you can definitely hear it under your sheets when you move around. It's not loud like the old fashioned vinyl "pee sheets" from back in the day though lol.
What I like about this protector is that it works really well. I accidentally spilled a whole large tumbler of water on the bed sheets and the mattress never got a drop on it. But there are 2 things I don't care for and thats just me; not the quality of the protector. I wish we could buy the proper mattress depths again. I like tight sheet on my bed and this item crumples my sheets. All makers do it, not just this one. They should start making mattress protectors and pads like they used to make the older mattress pads. With proper sizes and made of 1 piece of material formed to fit right over the sides of the mattress. No skirt. Much more snug that way. No crumpling. I also find it makes me hot. I had to put my mattress pad and foam on top of it to keep me cool. At least they can be washed and my mattress is still protected.
Years ago, when my kids were in twin beds, I used to buy this top of mattress cover from a vendor called OOPS! which appears to be bought out now. Now that my children are now in double beds, I was at a loss of a protector as good. After buying several mattress protectors, none ever compared to my OOPS! ones UNTIL I came across this one. EXACTLY what I was looking for and does the trick. Protects great from spills and pet messes. Worth EVERY cent! Would highly recommend to anyone else. Buy two, just to have one as backup - they are THAT good!
I've only been using it a week or so but I noticed improvement the very first morning. I used to wake up with congestion headaches from my allergies. It hasn't happened since I got the cover. Note, I also got pillows covers (from another brand before I knew about this company). I like that I can put it on by myself. Eventhough it doesn't zip, it covers the top and sides well. I don't have to lift the whole mattress so I imagine I'll wash it more frequently the other type. I don't know or care if its waterproof. I bought it for my dustmite allergy. I'm very happy with this purchase.
This mattress protector is like loose terry towel on the top and then some strange material on the underside. It feels sort of crinkly and plastic-y. I was hesitant when I received it because of how it felt in my hands. I gave it a quick wash and dry and then popped it on my bed. No problem fitting it on even with a very deep mattress. I thought for sure I would feel it or worse yet - hear it. There is the faintest crinkle of it under my sheet, but not enough to be bothersome. I probably wouldn’t purchase it again as I really am not a fan of the texture... But it is as described.
