5.0 out of 5 starsRing Doorbell Cam Is The Best Camera On The Market!!
Reviewed in Australia on 8 January 2022
This Doorbell Camera is Fantastic! I have had it set up and Working for over a Month and my battery has only used 25%, So the Battery life is Amazing! My Wifi is ok where I live but the camera hasn't faulted once! The features are Amazing! The picture quality is perfect! Like a 4K HD Camera! The things you can do in the app or on ring.com made me subscribe. It lets you control the camera to what setting suits your House. The motion sensor is very fast, within 2 seconds I am notified if someone has triggered the Motion Sensor and it hasn't missed one person. And being able to check the camera Live anytime is an excellent feature. I don't have street lights where I live and the Camera on Night mode picks up everything clear as day! The 2 way Microphone is great and I have it set on 2 phones and it lets another person talk through it on my side of the Camera to the person outside with no complications, So 3 of us talk through it together perfectly! It even lets you turn the camera left and right and zoom in also. I recommend this Camera to anyone who is after a cheap way to keep an eye on your house anywhere you are and knowing the battery has the potential to last months, I rate it 10/10 even with having to pay a subscription which I'm Happy to Do after trying all the features in the trial period you get with subscribing at the start and honestly it's not bad at $40 a Year or $4 a Month. One of the Best things I own!

1.0 out of 5 starsWish I had read the reviews first

Lesson - always read the reviews before purchase.

Firstly, the set up procedure is one of the most complicated things i have been through - and I am a web developer who deals with complicated technical issues all day, yet this totally flawed me.

Even once set up, simple things like making the video appear on your phone didnt work.

I purchased the extra "chime" box - this also didnt work.

Hard to believe a doorbell could be harder to set up than a $5000 Macbook Pro but trust me it is - by far.

Thank god for Amazon's return policy as this is going straight back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite a good unit.

Found this a very easy installation and had the benefit of having a powered doorbell previously. This meant that the Ring doorbell is always 100% charged. Hooked up well to Alexa and the video quality is quite clear. There is a small lag when an alert goes off on my phone until I open it up, but not too bad. I pay 4 bucks a month subscription which isnt too bad for peace of mind of knowing who is at my front door. All in all a good product. The build quality is solid and the app is initially hard to navigate but is ok once your used to it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don’t buy if you don’t want to pay a subscription for rest of your life !

Overall decent build quality. Motion detection is delayed by about 5sec sometime. I’m going to return this because I don’t want to have to pay $5 a month. I will rather spend twice the price for the eufy door bell camera that doesn’t need a subscription, it has local storage to view your recent detections.

I wouldn’t buy anymore of ring stuff since you have to pay them the subscription monthly if you want to used the full feature. Get Reolink as your primary and you can connect to your cloud, you control it. This is just a door bell replacement nothing more

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Aware of the Subscription Required
Reviewed in the United States on 12 March 2021

Great product. Clear real time wide angle video. Motion filming and notifications work. Be aware you have to pay a monthly subscription about the cost of a cup of Starbucks coffee each month or a yearly fee for a cheaper price to allow you to save videos. This is important if need the video to report a crime. You get the first month for free. Still I would buy this product again. Install tip drill shank wide holes in your Hardy Plank to prevent cracking and/or stripping of the durable mount screws. Put them in by hand. If they're too tight your pilot holes are too small in the Hardy Plank. UPDATE 4/9/2021 Be AWARE! you will NOT be able to use any function including live stream if you don't subscribe to a monthly or yearly plan. In other words the Rind will notify you of motion but you will have to go to the door to see who it is. No video will be accessible. I was Just forced to subscribe in order to see video feed after my trial period ended. This detail is not made very clear. I was under the impression you wouldn't be able to save video events but not that the camera would be disabled if you do not subscribe. Very sleezy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So happy with my new ring ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So I've had my ring up for 2 weeks now & let me tell u, the battery life is insanely amazing, I'm only at 54% & that's 2 weeks in & mind you...if you notice in my notifications feed for the ring, I have motions going off every couple of minutes... I live on a street where a lot of traffic goes by & I'm amazed that the camera is still over half percentage of life
I had blink cameras outside the same area before & the blink cameras literally died in 4 days cause of how much motion it has outside, & blink wouldn't give me my money back
Needless to say I'm am extremely satisfied with my ring camera, I would recommend to anyone & for $99
You can't beat the price
I don't understand why it had some bad reviews, but I went with my gut feeling, I'm glad I did
& $3 a month subscription I'm happy to pay for the recordings, I might do the $30 yearly price when my subscription runs out of my free trial

1.0 out of 5 stars If EA made a doorbell.....
Reviewed in the United States on 31 January 2021
Colour Name: Satin NickelConfiguration: Doorbell onlyVerified Purchase
When the device works, it's nice., but when it doesn't is, unfortunately, far more often. Settings just stop working, so you'll suddenly get notified every time a car drives in front of the house. The camera is slow to respond and sometimes just doesn't.

The worst part is that most features are under a paywall. It's free for a month but then you have to buy a Netflix subscription for your $100 doorbell (let me repeat that so it rings loud and clear.....a subscription for your DOORBELL). There really is no reason you should have to pay a company $10/month to use a device you purchased, while they can use whatever data they collect to monitor you.

It would be cheaper, and more effective, to just put up a security camera and an intercom.

Ultimately, you have to ask if this makes your life better, and the answer for me is a resounding no.

1.0 out of 5 stars Requires monthly subscription for many features. Battery not removable for this model
Reviewed in the United States on 27 January 2021
Colour Name: Venetian BronzeConfiguration: Doorbell onlyVerified Purchase
The short review - I don't like that you have to pay a monthly subscription to get any video recordings. The monthly "Ring Protect" subscription is also necessary in order to use "People Only" sensing mode, which stops the Ring doorbell from giving false alerts for cars passing in the street. I also don't like that this model does not have a removable battery.

More detailed information - I installed my Ring doorbell using the wiring from my existing doorbell and transformer. The Ring doorbell didn't recognize the hardwiring. It seemed that one solution would then be to buy a Ring transformer to see if it solved the problem. Another solution, since this Ring doorbell doesn't have a removable battery, would have been to unscrew the doorbell periodically from the door frame and put it on a charger. But I was lucky to learn, about a day later, that the doorbell had recognized it was hardwired and showed the battery was charging. I can see that if a person wanted to skip the hardwiring problems, it would be nice to get a model with a removable battery to make charging easier.

Last night, the Ring doorbell started sending alerts every few minutes, saying there was motion at the door and waking me up. Turns out that after a month, the free trial subscription with "Ring Protect" ends. Without that subscription, the feature called "People Only Mode", was no longer available and turned itself off. So the device was signaling every car that went by in the street. I got around this by turning down the sensitivity and by limiting the area where the motion is monitored to just the bottom portion of the video screen.

In addition, without a subscription, no motion detection videos are available, not even motion that has just happened. You can still turn on a live view and see someone at the door if you are quick. But you can't see anyone who came to the door, rang the bell and left before you got the live view running.

Poetic Journey
1.0 out of 5 stars Will be monthly fees
Reviewed in the United States on 13 May 2022

I bought 2 of these. After the free trial period is up, which I can't recall ... possibly 30 days?, many features become unavailable unless you pay a monthly subscription fee. I didn't purchase these for myself but know that there are only a few features that can be used without the payment.
1) The Ring will function if someone pushes the Ring.
2) You can go to live video from your phone etc to view who is at the door.
3) Can view area notifications.
Can't speak whether night vision works or not. Have never had any notifications pop up on the phone. Seems odd since there's a street light laminating the driveway leading up to door. At any rate, I bought these so they would receive notifications when they weren't home or available but if I had known they would had to eventually purchase a monthly subscription in order to use the Ring I wouldn't have bought them. In fact when I have entered their home the Ring sends them a notification at least 2 min. after I've already entered the home, which over time has beome a laughing joke among us. At any rate, in my opinion, for the money, the Ring was fairly lacking & I wish I had looked for a better product.
