I did lots of research and came up with this one. Even though other reviews say the flavour is plasticity, I threw away the first 4 boils and always start to boil with fresh water, I haven’t noticed any bad flavour . I like the big spout so I don’t have to open the lid to fill it. Reasonably fast to boil and not too noisy. Good buy!
This kettle is far cheaper than anything similar so I thought I would take risk, given the adverse reviews about smell/taste. sure enough, on the first few boilings it produced a vile, chemical smell which doubtless was given off by the internal plastic lining. however, we persevered and after maybe 10 boilings the smell and taste disappeared totally. So, yes it's odd but you just have to be patient. That apart, it's quick, quiet, easy to handle, fill, clean and looks smart. Can't really ask much more of a kettle can you?
Our old kettle gave up so I had to buy a new one. I came across this kettle and it is great. It boils pretty fast and glows blue when it's on, and not to noisy when boiling. I had to boil and rinse quite a few times as the kettle is plastic I could taste it in my brew, which wasn't very pleasant. But it soon disappeared. It's also really lightweight not heavy at all.
I had to replace an old kettle after 8 years, which also was Russell Hobbs make. This was the closed to the model I had and I am happy. The kettle has normal kettle boiling water sound, it's precise when pouring, and I like the red colour. It feels plasticky, but is also super light. Everything about this kettle is kind of smoooth - filling it up, closing the lid, pressing the boiling button. Smooth. Let's see if this one will last me at least another 8 years?
Great cheap kettle. I had a stainless steel one before and hated the water marks it would get on the outside. This one is easy to clean and quicker. Also I like the blue lighting it's pretty cool. The 2 cup marker is a fib though unless you have half cups! I'm happy for the price and it looks good in the kitchen.
Took a while to find a new kettle, can't see why you'd need to spend more. This is well built, nice and easy to fill, lid opens wide enough to get both water in, and your hand to clean. Nice little blue light when on, with a clear indication of how full it is. Only down side was the taste, seems the plastic needs a good few washes and boils before it's manufacturing taste has gone.
Our own kettle stopped working one afternoon, so I ordered this the next day. It’s Really cool looking (Sorry) and has a removable filter plus Turns a pleasant Blue colour when boiling, A Transparent panel on the side shows how Much water to fill.. The price was right for me also.. The name ‘Russell Hobbs’ convinced me to buy this and although it’s only been a week it’s just the replacement we needed...
Bought this a bit over a year ago and have been really satisfied with it. The best aspects are: 1) Looks great, exactly as shown. Also the blue light while heating up water looks really good. 2) Heats water fairly fast, takes about a minute to heat up 6 cups of water 3) Very easy to clean and descale. I usually just use white vinegar overnight which makes the heating element look like brand new!
If I had to note one area to watch out is its consumption (2.5 kW h-3 kW h) which is slightly above other kettles I checked.
Other than that, great everyday kettle! Definitely recommended!
We wanted a kettle with a large top lid for easy filling. This fits the bill. Being plastic, the sides don't get too hot when the kettle boils - less chance of unpleasant burn. It pours cleanly with no drips afterwards. A little bit noisy in coming up to boil and slightly slower than our last kettle, but not a problem for us. Good value. Durability remains to be established.
