Having read some bad reviews about this kettle I decided to give it a try due to its low price tag. I only have it a few weeks but have found it very satisfactory. It boils a lot faster than its predecessor ! Only bad point (in my humble opinion) is the colour is a lot less glossy than it appears in the photos. Having invested in kettles at double the price tag , only to find them slow boiling or chipped to pieces within months, I think this kettle is stylish and excellent value for money.
I bought this as a replacement for an old version of a similar RH one. It seems to have the same boiling time, which is fairly slow (full capacity). I was hoping it'd be quicker. Not a deal breaker though, it's a lovely looking kettle. Noise is average, not quiet but not really loud either. Don't expect luxury, it is plastic-y, the picture makes it look more sturdy. Pouring is nice and drip free. The blue light looks really good as well however I never understand a blue light when you're boiling water... surely it should be red?! Happy with my purchase overall and can't go wrong for £23!
Needed a new kettle and saw this one on line at a reduced price. The lid was easy to open and it had an easy to pour lip which was made of hard plastic . It also has a lining of hard plastic inside. Unfortunately when boiled the water tasted tainted even after boiling the full kettle over 12 times and cleaning with lemon and with bicarbonate of soda. I even used bottled water and that had the same taste. I would not recommend this kettle due to the above.
I like that this is both a left handed and a right handed kettle, in thatI, as a left hander can easily see the fill line. It's nice and quiet in operation and the flip up lid operates smoothly. The only downside is the shape of the handle; it's a little thick neat the top making it a bit awkward to hold when it's full. At my age with a touch of arthritis in my fingers this may cause a problem.
Had this kettle for two weeks and it's literally made me ill. Every time I made a cup of tea using it there was an odd taste to it. Tried a different kettle thinking it was my water supply but nope it's this kettle. Seen a lot of other reviews mentioning the same thing. I would not recommend buying this as there are better kettles for the same price that won't make you ill
Part of my fault that I didn't read the reviews or check the technical details of this product before buying. It's plastic inside and left a nasty plastic taste no matter how many times you boiled it, still couldn't get rid of the plastic taste after a month of using, very concern about bpa also as in description didn't mention about bpa free or anything. I'd have refunded it since the first few days of trying.
I reviewed this kettle earlier when I bought the toaster to match, two and a half months into purchase of kettle it blew up, scolded my husbands hands as he was trying to turn it off, as water was coming out the lid and the spout. Wasn’t the best of aftercare service from Russell Hobbs but eventually they replaced the kettle, saying they were going to inspect it for faults, as some people do extrodinary things to get another kettle. Ours was genuine it blew up after two and a half months. I’m writing this as we still don’t know why the kettle did this, and it could have been a child that was scolded rather than a adult. Maybe one of those things, I don’t know, replaced by same kettle, ok thus far.
