Very nice ski coat! Not too puffy that I feel huge and feels not too heavy. I ordered a size up because it seems Spyder likes to make their product a size smaller. I normally wear XL t-shirts and I bought a XXL size coat. The arm length is perfect and shoulder’s are roomy enough to pushing both arms forward without being restricted of material in the back shoulders. My only gripe is that their sizing forces you to go up if you like a loose fit. I went with the bigger fitting jacket just in case it needs to be dry cleaned or washed and dried, I won’t be shrinking it down too much that it may be too small to wear. I want to take this coat skiing some time later and test it out. The black is a very nice color.
The jacket is quite thin which is what I was looking for to replace my HH shell. The first day on the slopes really surprised me as I had to remove my fleece layer, leaving only my thin under-layer! The wind was blowing 10-20mph with the temps in the high 20's (F). In temps of about 0F, my fleece still resides in my backpack!
The down side of this jacket is lack of more vents and a flap to cover the front zipper.
The jacket is really nicely made, but runs very small, I had to return it and then my size was not available. Ultimately went with another brand. The only drawback of Spyder is the price, these jackets are insanely expensive. The quality is high, but the price is hefty.
Stylish coat for my teenage, very active outdoors son. We looked for down coats, but hard to find and very expensive. This coat is Gore-Tex which is very warm, but not bulky. The size fitting was just right too.
Wore jacket once. While wearing noticed a split on chest at a seam. Spyder said they would repair or replace. Got jacket back one month later with horrible patch job on chest of brand new jacket. Looks like jeans my mom patched when I was a kid. Tried to call Spyder customer service 3 days in a row and after waiting on hold for 30 minutes each time have now given up. Should have stuck with North Face.
