About the Author

Cameron Smith started his NRL career at the Melbourne Storm in 2002 and played for Queensland from 2003 to 2017 and for Australia from 2006 to 2017. He captained all those teams and won numerous NRL titles, State of Origin shields and two World Cups, and received many individual honours including Dally M Player of the Year.

Andrew Webster is the Chief Sports Writer for the Sydney Morning Herald and has a passion for rugby league. He has written several books and appears regularly on Channel Nine.

Setting the record straight

Given the stream of criticism in some quarters that Cameron Smith and the Melbourne Storm have received over the course of his career, it' s wonderful to hear Cameron directly address a whole range of subjects.
These include:
Storm grapple tackling and tackling technique
The 2010 salary cap scandal
The 2014 Alex McKinnon incident
The gift from the NRL to Cameron and his wife after his 400th NRL game
The status of his relationship with Cooper Cronk

If you are a Storm supporter, you will empathise with and enjoy his explanations. If you are not and you actually read the book, the responses will probably infuriate you even further, in particular on the salary cap scandal.

Most interesting of all are his insights on:
1. How he has learnt to read the game so well and knowing which is the most appropriate play to choose during a game.
2. The underlying culture and ethos that is at the heart of all the Melbourne Storm success that set them apart from other NRL clubs,

There are no bombshells or shocking revelations. That just isn't his style.
