Sarah Townsend has spent 20+ years as a freelance copywriter. She has two well-behaved children and two badly behaved cats, and lives in Gloucestershire, England.

Since writing Survival Skills for Freelancers, Sarah has been on a mission to help freelancers and small business owners take back control, grow in confidence and create a life they love. She's an Enterprise Nation adviser, a mentor for the Help to Grow and FreelanceHER 100 schemes, and offers one-to-one mentoring for freelancers, copywriters and creative founders.

Currently on the shortlist for the IPSE freelancer awards, Sarah regularly shares her advice through events, speaking and training, and is a serial podcast guest – having taken part in 50+ podcasts in a little over a year.

Aside from Survival Skills for Freelancers, her monthly newsletter and a regular blog dedicated to helping freelancers create a life they love, Sarah does most of her writing for successful, purpose-led businesses who want brilliant websites to help them stand out from the crowd.

In her spare time, she loves live music, long walks in the countryside and photography, and is a self-confessed language lover and movie geek. She dislikes queues, coriander, and writing about herself in the third person.

Finding this book was timely and valuable for me and my son.

I am helping my 21 year old son set up his own wood finishing and design workshop. He has been training for a year or so and we recently started setting up his own place.

I have blood cancer, i am in remission and through choice, I no longer work. My mission is enjoy every minute and help my son in achieving his goal. I have worked in business management roles for companies for many years.

I have read the book and will gave my son read it to. It will increase his knowledge, self awareness and confidence. It will also back up a lot of what I have been teaching him. It is well written and enjoyable to read.

This book is the perfect tool I need to help me in discussions with my son. It has everything we need to keep us sane, good business sense and plenty of nuggets of wisdom and information. There are great suggestions for meaningful networking and sharing of business knowledge and solutions.

I am going to work through it with Adam. We will create a checklist of areas for the business and training needs which we will action. The book will serve as an excellent resource and template to facilitate this aim and will save us many hours of research.

I am gifting my copy to my 21 year old son. I have purchased a further 4 copies, 1 for myself and three for people close to me who have recently decided to go self employed or have the desire to freelance.

It is a lovely gift to pass on.

I am very pleased to see that it has been well received by many other people.
