About the Author

Cathy Glass is a pseudonym. She has been a foster carer for over 20 years, during which time she has looked after more than 100 children, of all ages and backgrounds. Cathy runs training courses on fostering for her local Social Services, and helps draft new fostering procedures and guidelines. Cathy has three teenage children of her own; one of whom, Lucy, was adopted after a long-term foster placement.

Cathy has always had an interest in writing, combining fostering with occasional freelance journalism and commercial writing, usually when a particular issue stirs her passion. Before the success of Damaged she had written on health and social issues for the Guardian, the Evening Standard, Luton News, and the Hemel Gazette. She is also a published fiction writer, with poems and short stories published in a number of commercial magazines.

Cathy’s books have been constantly in the best-seller charts since Damaged was published in 2007, having sold over 2 million copies across her titles worldwide.

Hi

I live in England and have three children, two birth children and one adopted. When I left school I held a clerical position in the civil service, which I left to start a family. At the same time I became a foster carer, which is the inspiration for much of my writing. I have been a foster carer for over twenty-five years and am what's known as a specialist foster carer, sometimes referred to as a level 3 carer. This is in recognition of my experience and qualifications and means that I am often asked to look after children with complex needs or very challenging behaviour. I have a degree in education and psychology which I was awarded as a mature student.

I have always been a writer - from when I was at school, with poems in the school magazine. In my teens I began writing short stories, articles, a few radio plays, and entering writing competitions. Like many writers it was a hobby - something I did almost furtively in my spare time, while working, and then later fostering and looking after my family. The two halves of my life - writer and foster carer - came together in 2007 when I wrote about a child I'd fostered and the book immediately became a number one best seller. Since then there have been many bestsellers, thanks to you, my readers. I really appreciate all your support and best wishes.

For more details about me and my books and to read updates on the children please visit my website www.cathyglass.co.uk

I also write thriller books under the pen name Lisa Stone: www.lisastonebooks.co.uk

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent.
By Julie Haigh on 17 December 2020
This continues on from Cathy Glass' previous book, 'Too Scared to Tell'. She's just found out about Lucy’s predicament. But is it? Or is Lucy happy about things? Anyway, how will Cathy deal with things when it's closer to home, and not just part of her job?

As all this is going on, Cathy is going to be taking in a new placement, 14 year old Tilly. This was a really good book, with a few different things going on

An excellent book. 5 stars; back to top form, and not as repetitive as some have been lately, unpredictable many times, too. Looking forward to her next.

Received my book yesterday and I just finished reading it . Cathy writes from the heart and the stories of what her Foster children go through pulls at your heart you feel all the emotion from the way it is written it is as if your there in the room with them . Cathy glass books grip you from the off and you will be addicted and wont be able to put the book down until you have finished .

I'm hoping it won't long before her next book is out as I want to know how tilly is getting on and to find out about the 10yr she has just started fostering along side tilly.
