3.0 out of 5 stars Certainly has merit
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 July 2020
The message of this book is a valuable one I want to teach my Son. However, I was a little disappointed with this book. I own two other Mem Fox books, so was expecting something with more rhyme. I didn’t enjoy the illustrations. I don’t know who the man in the cloud suit flying children around the world is meant to represent, I found it a bit odd. Overall, I think the story is important, but I think if I had picked it up in a book shop and looked at it I would have put it back down and bought something else. It’s not a patch on the ten little fingers and ten little toes book, for example. Although I appreciate the two books may be aimed at different age ranges. Perhaps it’s the illustration style that just isn’t for us, and confusing.

Disgusting depiction of brown skinned people with monkeys on their heads and mud huts in the background. The book I assume was written to educate and enlightening children not compound racist stereotypes. Shameful.
