These are attractive and sturdy, but that is not the purpose for which one buys them. I bought them because they claim to be mothproof. THEY AREN'T. Not even a little. To be sure my garments were absolutely free of moths when I put them into the bags for summer storage, I cleaned them, put them in the freezer for a couple of days, and threw some herbal moth sachets into each bag. With those extra safeguards, even if the garment bags were mediocre, they should have done the job. But I just took out a gorgeous cashmere sweater with a hole the size of a quarter in it! These DO NOT do the job!
I'm fighting moths that came into the house with an unlucky antiques purchase. I'm giving this 1 star because I specifically searched on whether or not this could help with "moths", which the seller said it was mothproof in the questions. I should have realized from the description it couldn't possibly be true, and it is most definitely not mothproof. Because you hang it by wrapping an opening around your closet rod there is absolutely an opening for moths to get in and out. Also note it's considerably longer than 54". For storing long dresses that may be a benefit but in my closet it drags on the floor. The thought of figuring out how to get it back in the bag is overwhelming so I'm just going to toss it since it will have no other use.
Unlike the picture, there's a HOLE where the clothes closet bar goes into the bag to support it. The hole has elastic around it, so it gapes and there's no way to try to seal it. There are also three zippers on the front, which leave a large gap where they meet. DO NOT BUY if your goal is to keep out moths or other small things.
We bought a bunch of these for an international move, and used them to protect (we thought) a number of suits, shirts, and so forth, traveling a variety of ways--in our plane luggage, in our air baggage arriving later, in our sea freight. They imparted a noticeable, unpleasant smell on these clothes; difficult to describe, but kind of like urine. The clothes were in the bags for weeks (we prepped the plane luggage a couple weeks before actually flying out). Since they went a variety of ways, this cannot be the results of some separate incident (e.g., a cat peeing on some piece of luggage). Washing the clothes helped, as did dry cleaning, but we'd need to dry clean everything multiple times. It's most powerful when all these clothes are together in a closet (and, various closets in various rooms, so the problem isn't in our closet). Luckily, when these already dry cleaned clothes are worn, it is faint unless you put your face in it.
These are definitely NOT moth-proof. Deceptive advertising. Dust-proof, yes. NOT moth-proof. Revised: 01/22/18 when I contacted the company, they agreed with my statement and issued a credit-brovo to them! The bags are great for dust-proof, but not moth-proof. I was elated the company agreed to change the description so as not to deceive others.
While the fabric quality is fine, the opening for getting hangers through is terrible. The fabric overlaps so the hanger must be threaded first in one direction and then the other, often causing the clothes to fall off in the process. The description says each cover holds 3-4 hangers, but it doesn't tell you that even one hanger is difficult to get in or out and more than one is impossible. I bought 2 packages and threw them away. They were nothing but aggravation and a total waste of money!
I was excited when I saw the bags. I thought, since I paid twice as much as for my last set that these bags would be even better. NO! The plastic is much thinner and feels cheaper than my previous bags that I've used for 5 years. The zippers that were advertised as being better than their competitor's are flimsy. If you do not plan to get into the bags very often, I guess they might serve your purpose. But, with regular use, I doubt if they will hold up a year. This was my $60+ mistake!
This unit is a mess. There was no opening at the top of the unit to pull your hangers through, it was sewn shut. The zippers were t installed properly either, I put a pair of shoes into a front pocket and when I zippered it closed the zipper pull came right off the zipper teeth, why because the zipper wasn’t sewn into the unit properly, the edge was t sewn into the unit. Not worth the money, very cheaply made and really caused me a lot of aggravation as I purchased it to carry gowns for my nephews rehearsal dinner and wedding reception and in the end I had to borrow a bag from my brother. I was refunded but again it was an issue at the 10th hour of packing to go away for an important event.
One of the five came with a completely missing zipper pull. The zipper's there, but there's no way to open or close it. The other four have pulls but they were located in the middle and the top help of the zipper was separating. Moving them to the top and then opening again aligned the teeth but I don't expect these zippers to last very long at all.
