Treat Yourself With Alexa


Take some time out of your day for self-care


Hanging out at home can make it tempting to spend the day in your pyjamas. While that can be super relaxing at times, it’s important to keep yourself mentally and physically nourished. I have quite a few ways that you can actively treat yourself from home using me, your mate Alexa!

Taking a few small steps involving relaxation, self-care and keeping active can help you to break up your day. Here are some easy at-home tips to get you started. Go on; Treat yourself.

Relax

Try kicking off your day by waking up gently with an ascending alarm. Here’s how!

  1. Open the Alexa App, tap More on the bottom navigation bar and select Alarms & Timers.
  2. Tap the Settings cog in the top corner, then select the device you want to set up with an Ascending Alarm.
  3. Use the sound bar to adjust the final volume setting.
  4. Tap the toggle button next to Ascending Alarm (blue means it’s active).

Continue your relaxation with some mindful breathing and nourishing sounds:


"Alexa, play meditation music everywhere"
"Alexa, sing me a lullaby"
"Alexa, set a meditation timer for 20 minutes"
"Alexa, open Guided Meditation"

Recuperate

If you’re feeling anxious or stressed, I have some Skills that will help you to dial in to your mindfulness and spiritual wellbeing!

Stop, Breathe, Think: Take a moment to stop what you’re doing and focus on your breathing with the Stop, Breathe, Think skill. Simply say, "Alexa, open Stop, Breathe, Think”.

Headspace: Build a daily meditation practice with Headspace; “Alexa, open Headspace”.

Once you’ve taken a few moments to yourself, try making someone’s day and let them know you’re thinking of them - “Alexa, send a hug”.

Get Moving

Motivation can be lacking in the colder months, particularly when it comes to exercise and working out. But I can help you to get your blood pumping without even needing to leave the house.

Get ready to feel the burn of your morning workout with motivating music! Start by saying, “Alexa, play a workout playlist”.

Once you’re done kicking butt, give your confidence a boost by saying, “Alexa, compliment me”.

Lighten your afternoon with laughter (and get those tummy muscles working), by tuning in to Aussie faves Hamish & Andy. Try saying “Alexa, play the Hamish & Andy podcast”.

Cooking comfort foods can also be a yummy way to get yourself up and moving; And I’m sure that the family will be thrilled! To get started, try saying, "Alexa, give me salad recipes" or "Alexa, show me a brownie recipe".

Or if you’re in need of some health inspo, try saying, “Alexa, what’s the wellness tip of the day?

Get organised

If shopping is your happy place, I can help you to stay on top of your Amazon deliveries— even if you didn’t order using voice shopping. Try saying, “Alexa, where’s my stuff?

I can even help you to stay on top of your chores and help you plan ahead with some reminders and news! Try saying:

“Alexa, remind me to water the plants”
“Alexa, set a 45 minute study timer“
"Alexa, what's the weather tomorrow?"
“Alexa, add apples to my shopping list”

And if you feel like escaping with some reality TV on your Echo Show device or supported Fire TV device, try tuning in to one of my favourites by saying, “Alexa, play Luxe Listings Sydney on Prime Video.
