Can you believe that it’s October already? Time sure flies when you’re busy co-ordinating work, family commitments and life in general. While it may seem like there’s little to no time for looking after yourself, there are always way to weave in some quick, yet effective self-care into your daily routine. And I’m here to help make it easy as!
There’s nothing quite like kicking off your day in a calming way. Simply start by waking gently with an ascending alarm.
Here’s how to set it up:
And if you want to kick off your day by boosting your wellness knowledge, try saying, “Alexa, what is the wellness tip of the day?” and I’ll share some quick info. Who said that working on your wellness had to take hours of research?
Some days are full of meetings and others have looming deadlines, I get it. But I’m here to help you to bring some order to what may feel very disorderly! You can start by setting yourself some reminders, so that I can help ease some of the mental burden. Here are some ideas:
“Alexa, set a reminder to pay my phone bill”
“Alexa, set a reminder to feed the cat”
“Alexa, set a reminder for my 2pm meeting”
“Alexa, set a reminder to put the washing in the dryer”
But most importantly, take some time away from your computer screen, even for a few moments! Try stepping away from your desk and saying, “Alexa, set a 2 minute meditation timer”, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. You’ve earned it!
Chipping away at the old To Do list doesn’t have to be impossible. Try saying, “Alexa, create a To Do list” and I’ll be there to help you out in staying on top of your tasks. I can also help to make multitasking at meal times a dream. Wanting to do some laundry while your dinner is in the oven? No worries! Try saying, “Alexa, set a timer for the lasagne” and I’ll be sure to alert you when your dinner is ready.
If you’re looking for some mental wellness podcasts, try saying, “Alexa, play the podcast Not Alone on Amazon music” for a podcast from Beyond Blue. But if you’re looking for a light-hearted podcast that focuses on mental health, just say, ”Alexa, play the podcast Terrible, Thanks for Asking”.
Laughter can also often be the best medicine after a long day! Switch on your Echo Show device or Fire TV and say, “Alexa, play Back to the Rafters” for some classic comedy.
Looking to help the kids wind down after a big day at school? Try saying, “Alexa, open Bedtime Explorers” so your little ones can go on a meditative journey. Kid skills require parent permission. Learn more about Kids skills here.
