8 Ways To Get Organised With Alexa

It’s a brand new year, which is the perfect opportunity to get organised, set goals and get ready to welcome in the new. Setting New Year’s resolutions can seem like an arduous task, but it doesn’t have to be, because I’m here to help! I’ve highlighted eight ways that I can help to get your 2022 off to a great start (and have some fun along the way).

Start by keeping the family entertained: Have the family gather around an Alexa-enabled device and try saying any and all of these for some lols, entertainment and just to be impressed! “Alexa, entertain me”, “Alexa, sing me a song”, “Alexa, do an impression”.

Create a list of your New Year’s resolutions: If you’re looking to turn over a new leaf in 2022, start by creating a list by saying, “Alexa, create a New Year’s Resolutions list”. Then you can add things like doing morning meditation three times a week, getting on top of your weekly meal prep or locking in weekly outdoors time with the family and I’ll keep a record of it on-device and in the Alexa App.

Find inspiration with my recipe experience: Thanks to Taste, I have over 50,000 recipes for you to seek meal prep inspiration from! Try saying, “Alexa, show me slow cooker recipes” for some delicious set-and-forget meals. Or to leave it to me, say, “Alexa, what should I cook for dinner?” And I’ll share some tasty options.

Set reminders: I can help you to get on top of your tasks with reminders. You can say something like, “Alexa, remind me to pay my bills on the first of each month”, or “Alexa, remind me at 7am every day to take my vitamins”. And if you have a screen device and want to check what reminders you have set, try saying. “Alexa, show me my reminders”. You’ll never forget a thing again!

Set alarms: If your holidays are over and you need to get back into the work swing of things, I’ve got you covered. Say, “Alexa, set a weekday alarm for 7:30am”. Not a morning person and need a gentler wake up? Try an Ascending alarm - here’s how:

  1. Tap More on the bottom navigation bar and select Alarms & Timers.
  2. Tap Settings at the bottom, then select the device you want to set up with Ascending Alarm.
  3. Use the slider to adjust the final volume setting.
  4. Tap the toggle button next to Ascending Alarm (blue means it’s active).

Alexa Pro Tip #1: Alexa has more than 20 different alarm sounds. Tap the one enabled next to Sound and you can scroll through and listen to them all.

Create a Routine: Save time by grouping together Alexa-enabled actions with Routines. You can create your own unique Routine, or be inspired by one of my featured routines. Simply scan or click the QR code below to give it a go.

You can find out more about Routines by clicking here.

Keep on top of your spending with Skills: Track your spending at the power of your voice with Skills. If you’re looking to monitor and track your energy usage as well as check bill due dates, try saying "Alexa, open AGL to access the AGL Skill. And if you want to access your Westpac bank account using your voice, you can try the Westpac Banking Skill. Simply say “Alexa, open Westpac” and link your account to get started.

Achieve your reading goals with Audible: I can help you to get ahead on your reading with Audible. Try saying, “Alexa, what audiobooks do I have?” to hear what’s in your collection. Or if you know what you want to read, you can navigate through your book by saying, “Alexa, next chapter” or “Alexa, read slower” and “Alexa, read faster” if you want to listen at a different pace.
